how high should a 42'' tv be mounted?

P.S. Wall mounting your TV will void the warrenty I was told by the future shop TV repair man.

If it was ever wall mounted they will refuse to fix it.

He called back just to ask me this one question because he forgot and then explained why to me.

So if you plan to wall mount a new tv wait till the warrenty is expired.

Thats not true. Why would wall mounting a flat panel tv void the warranty? I guess thats why futureshop includes the mount and installation with a lot of their products. Think about it.

Why would the repair man call me back and tell me this?

Why would he check my wall for holes?

Why did he check the mounting holes on the T.V.?

Sorry if you do not beleive me. That's what I was told. He called back to ask me that one question.

Just because they include the mount doesn't mean it doesn't void the warrenty either. What do they care if you choose to void your warrenty.

I'm not saying your wrong. You may be right. The repair man probably was wrong.

Can anybody verify if wall mounting your TV voids the Warrenty. A mod or Futureshop Rep.

I don't want to spread misinformation if I was told something that was incorrect.

Was hoping somebody would know and post.

If you are worried about what does or doesn't void a particular warranty, you should visit the company's Web site and read their terms.

Given the fact that wall mounting of flat panels is incredibly common, it borders on the absurd for a repair person to suggest that it automatically voids warranties. 

Here is an excerpt from the Panasonic 50" G10 Canadian warranty:

LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS
This warranty does not apply to products purchased outside Canada or to any product which has been improperly
installed, subjected to usage for which the product was not designed, misused or abused, damaged during shipping,
or which has been altered or repaired in any way that affects the reliability or detracts from the performance, nor
does it cover any product which is used commercially.

I would not mount my TV as I have been told it stresses the screen over time.

Like you say it is incrediably common which is why I figured somebody with "authority" would easily be able to tell people what is the truth.

I just repeated what I was told.

About the warrenty information:

Dynex Website

"Dynex warrants that for 1 year from date of purchase as stated on your receipt, it will replace this product if found to be defective in materials or workmanship. If defective, return the item to the store where it was purchased before the expiration of the 1 year warranty period, with your original receipt, and we will replace it with a then-current equivalent Dynex product. This warranty is available only for the original purchaser of this product."

I'm in month 2 of my repair becuase they refused to abide by the manufacturers warrenty. I don't think future shop respects Manufacturers warrenties.

I'm starting to beleive it's true simply because nobody with authority has told us otherwise yet. This effects every flat panel TV they sell. I would hope they would comment. I thought this information would be common knowledge.
