I saw the lg 50 inch on sale for 999.99 last nite, but they were sold out. It's not 1080??? though. Can someone please explain how much of a noticeable difference it would be between 1080 thats a couple hundred more and the "regular" lg 50 on sale now with 300.00 off. And any other tidbits ud like to share as I need info. The set I saw was incredible, the one on sale for 999, so am I correct in assuming that there gets to a point that it just gets stupid after miniscule differences with specs?? thx larry

Hey Larry, I am about to buy an LG 50PG30 tomorrow and over the past few months I was questioning the same thing as
you.
Tomorrow the 1080 model (50PG30) is on sale furthur and will be selling for another hundred off for friends and family sale
so that will only be 200 more than the 720 p model you are referring to. I have learned from the many posts written in
this forum about the same delima, along with my own questions being answed by fine people in here and I have to agree
with some good advice I have seen here that says for a few bucks more get 1080P.... why buy already outdated
technology, get the 1080 plasma lg50pg30. Yes I realize no 1080 broadcast yet but of course Blue Ray Sony PS3 etc.
Maybe in 5 years 1080P all over the place and you may loose out there. All Im saying is for $200 more just look at the
specs side by side many times as I am told that other things like processors and such are upgraded in the newer models.
I't s not just 1080P you get for the extra bucks. As 1 guy said, look how many 720P 's are at stores now...not many,
and when they are gone there won't be anymore I would say. Just a thought. I just want to be compatible with where things
seem to be going and after that I can deal with watching it on a mid range TV splitting hairs as you say but it will be
1080P Blue Ray, PS3 or whatever. Just my thoughts, it's just such a small dollar differance now that it's a very easy choice.

both the 50pg25 and the 50pg30 use the LG XD engine , you need to go up to the 50PG60 series to get LG's Dual XD engine which is superior.
so the only differnce picture wise between the pg30 and pg25 would be the fact that the pg30 is 1080p ( which might not matter depending how far back you sit)
both models have the same true contrast of 30,000 : 1
the lg 50pg25 has a few nice features that the pg30 series does not have
-4 hdmi ports vs 3hdmi
-usb 2.0 port
-swivel stand
-LG's award winning "take it to the edge" design
just food for thought ![]()
