sony 52z5100 turns on and off at random

Is it possile the power cord is loose, either where it plugs into the TV, or at the wall, or power bar?

If you have a loose power cord, then when the TV receives power, it will automatically turn on. My TV does this when there has been a power faliure, and the power comes back on. Of course when the loose power cord goes the other way, the TV goes off.

It could also be an issue with the remote. Have you checked the batteries, and that the buttons aren't sticking?

As stated above, make sure the power cord is tightly in place.

How long have you owned the TV? If it is under a year from the date of purchase you can call Sony and have tech's come out to your home and look at the problem. If you purchased the PSP (Product Service Plan) with the TV, you should call the number on the phamphlet that should be attached to your reciept and you'll recieve the same on-site service.

If there is no warranty left on the product than you will have to get in contact with a local TV repair company. You can find them in newspaper adds or even the internet.
