tv for gaming

Hi, I going to be buying a new tv within the next week or so and am unsure of what i sold buy, what i am looking for is a tv within the price range of 799-999 and really don't want anything larger than a 42 inch. The tv will mostly be used for gaming and watching blu ray movies on the playstation 3. just looking for what will play the game best. Most of the games i play are fps and online. Any advice would really help thanks

Re: tv for gaming

Any TV will work.  LCD or Plasma.  I think you should be looking at where the TV is going to be placed, is it a light or dark room.

Plasma won't perform as well in a well lit room compared to dark.  Saying that, Samsungs are a decent TV.  Look at the processing power of the TV and with an LCD check the reponse rate of the screen.

Re: tv for gaming

Not sure just how much gaming you plan on doing but if its lots then I'd suggest either an LED or an LCD. Samsung (as mentioned previously) is a very good brand along with Sony, Sharp, and Panasonic. 120hz is recommended as the minimum.

Here's two decent LEDs close to your range:

LG

$850, on sale for $780 until March 31

Panasonic

$950, on sale for $800 until April 28

LCD

Sony

$780 (not currently on sale)
