Most TVs now sold - other than the least expensive "budget" models - can be used as a monitor for a computer. Before you begin to shop for a new TV, you need to find out whether your computer has a VGA video output, a HDMI video output, or both types of outputs. When you go shopping for a TV (for example, on Future Shop's web site) check the specs to make sure it has a video input that matches the video output of your computer. Many TVs now have HDMI inputs, but HDMI video outputs are still not always found on computers. A large proportion of TVs, particularly the large screen models, will have a VGA input (sometimes also simply referred to as a "PC input" in the TV's specs) - while almost all computers have a VGA video output.
Two suggestions if you need more help with selecting a TV to use as a monitor:
1. Go into a Future Shop store, and ask one of the sales people to direct you to TVs that have the required video inputs. Make sure you know exactly what type of video output your computer has before going into the store.
2. Do an internet search on the words "How to use a TV as a monitor" - lots of detailed information exists out there.

I use a 120hz LCD connected via HDMI, works fine.
