If you are considering 3D TV viewing, I'd suggest a plasma.

If you decide to play lots of games or use it as a computer montior (primary or secondary), either LED or LCD is recommended...LED preferred.

Just keep in mind plasma has come a long way in terms of the burn-in issue, I have a plasma and haven't had any issues. If you consider plasma, buy Panasonic/Pioneer or Samsung.

If you game a lot, I'd recommend something with a 120Hz refresh rate in LCD or LED, especially on bigger screens. Makes everything much smoother and reduces image ghosting quite a bit.

As a personal experience with plasma and gaming, I've never had any burn-in but did get a bit of image retention which was seriously no big deal. All you do for image retention is watch something on full screen (covers the whole screen) for a few minutes and its gone.
