ASUS Transforme r Pad 700
ASUS has had a lot of success with their very popular Transformer line of Android tablets, remaining one of the best alternatives to Apple’s juggernaut iPad tablet. ASUS isn’t resting on their laurels either. They’re back the new Asus Transformer Pad Infinity which looks to be the best yet.
Similar to the ASUS Transformer Pad 300 and Prime models, this incarnation has a keyboard dock which effectively transforms the tablet into a notebook computer, hence the Transformer name.
You would be forgiven to thinking this is the Asus Transformer Prime at a glance. Superficially it is undeniably similar as far as outward appearances go. Thats not a bad thing since we were fans of the cool radial brushed metal finish on the Prime, giving it a somewhat distinctive look which is hard to accomplish in the tablet market.
The major difference between the Infinity and the Prime is that the Infinity has a higher resolution screen. Just as Apple released a new iPad with a higher resolution screen (AKA the new iPad with Retina display), so too has ASUS kept up with the Transformer Pad Infinity. This model has a native resolution of 1920x1200 (compared to the 1280x800 of the Transformer Prime and 2048x1536 of the new iPad).
This device runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for now, but I would guess that a 4.1 Jelly Bean update is just around the corner. The whole thing is powered by the familiar nVidia Tegra 3 quad-core CPU, which seems to be becoming standard to have under the hood of Android tablets, so it’ll have more than enough juice to handle what you need.
Rounding things off it has a 2MP front camera, 8MP autofocus rear camera (with LED flash), Micro SD card slot and micro HDMI output on the tablet itself. The mobile keyboard dock has a USB 2.0 port, and SD card reader too, not to mention the chiclet keyboard and multi-touch touchpad. The tablet alone can go about nine and a half hours on battery, while with the added dock you’ll get fourteen hours total; more than enough for a long day of work without charging.
These start shipping to Canadian customers on August 17th so act quickly if you want to be the first to get your hands on one.
Whether you use it as a tablet or laptop, the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T 32GB is a gorgeous machine that'll turn heads wherever you take it. The Full HD 1920x1200 Super IPS+ display makes all of your apps and content look absolutely dazzling, and the champagne silver metallic design just oozes style. Connect it to the optional keyboard docking station and maximize your productivity.
