Alienware’ s Future Shop line-up video
Futureshop recently held a ‘Back To School’ event with various hardware vendors showing some of their wares. Despite the ‘…School’ moniker, there was a plethora of gaming oriented companies there. For example, I got to take a look at the Alienware notebooks coming to retail in Canada, including the M11X ($1199), a portable gaming rig in an 11.6″ almost netbook sized form factor. The M11X has switchable graphics so you can jump from the integrated Intel solution to NVidia’s GT 335M chip for gaming good enough to play Crysis.
Alienware was also showing off the $1799 15.6 inch M15X, packed with a Core i7 QUAD-CORE CPU (most other i7 notebooks have dual-core CPU's) and ATI's Radeon Mobility HD 5850, while the 17 inch 'grand daddy' of the lineup, the $2399 M17X uses the same CPU, but a faster HD 5870 Radeon graphics chip.
It wasn't all about the notebooks though, and what better way to get your homework done fast than a sup'ed up dual SLI enabled Area 51 desktop? The adjustable motorized top cooling vents will make sure your system stays nice and cool when you're blazing through those book reports.
