Action and adventure enthusiasts: rejoice! The next GoPro Hero cameras are here, and they’re incredible.

GoPro is rolling out two new models of GoPro Hero 3: Silver and Black.

The silver is similar to the model we’ve come to know and love, with 1080 recording, an adventure-proof casing that’s rated for up to 197ft of depth in water, and basic helmet/mounting gear.

Where things get even more interesting is the new, premium Black GoPro Hero 3. This camera kicks things up a notch with recording up to 2.7k resolution, higher definition than more HD TVs on the market. Why would you want to record in higher-than-HD? Well, the next big thing that’s going to hit home theatres is 4K, so that’s a great step in the right direction. Here's the kicker: The GoPro Hero 3 DOES shoot 4K... but at 15FPS. Still, it's awesome to see a camera of this class outperforming professional level cameras that are thousands to tens of thousands of dollars more expensive.

Both models are up to 30% smaller and 25% lighter, with the Black model being 2x more powerful.

Want even more coolness? Both models now include Wi-Fi! You can connect them to your smartphone or tablet, or to an optional Wi-Fi remote.

The Black Edition also comes with enhanced mounting gear for more options.
