Summer (for many) is the time to gather your friends and family for the ultimate camping trip and really embrace the outdoors. Teamwork is essential for creating a successful camping trip from getting the tent set up to building a fire to finding the perfect location to indulge in the beautiful scenery. But do you have all the essentials to make your camping trip go smoothly? Especially, when it comes to packing and making the easiest meals for the trip.
Make sure to mark these items off your camping checklist (because at the end of your weekend, you’ll be glad you did):
Frying Pan:
One the great things about camping is outdoor cooking. Hopefully, you have a chef on board with a specialization in this style of cooking. Most campgrounds offer a grill for you to BBQ steaks, hamburgers, or hotdog. But we know you like to add variety to your meals, and it’s best to bring the ultimate frying pan. Who wouldn’t want to start their day with a hearty breakfast, such as the Smoked Salmon Breakfast Burrito.
- About 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 8 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped chives
- 2 jalapeño chiles, halved, seeded, and sliced
- 1 cup diced tomato
- 8 ounces smoked salmon, cut into bite-size pieces
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 4 large (burrito-size) flour tortillas, warmed
- Salsa (optional)
Recipe adapted from MyRecipes.com
CAMPING TIPS:
- To warm the tortillas, roll them up, then wrap in foil and heat directly over the stove (or frying pan after it’s used) and turn often. (via MyRecipes)
- When it comes to preparing all your meals, it’s a good idea to pre-chop ingredients (ie: peppers, onions, jalapenos) at home. Pack it separately in a ziplock bag to save space.
