Cool simple gadget makes long hours in airplane a bit more bearable

Travelling in a standard commercial airliner is not really that much fun these days. Seats are always cramped, the the person in front of you has put their seat allllllll the way back, and sometimes the flight is rough.

To help while away the hours of being unnaturally sardine-canned with 200 other people, airlines offer snacks and in-flight movies (which you pay for).

But wait. You've likely got a good collection of DVDs yourself, why not bring your own movies and watch what you want to watch, when you want to?

Two things make this possible
First, you'll need a way to rip your DVDs to your computer..which is unfortunately beyond the scope of this post.

Second, after dragging your videos to your iPhone or iPod touch, pickup this handy little device by Griffin. It's a two-in one device that keeps your earbuds safely packaged for travel, and also cradles your iPhone or iPod touch in horizontal mode -- for easy movie watching.

The stand / case folds closed for travel keeping your earbuds inside and not packed loosely amongst your socks or other things.

When open, unfolded that is, the unit provides a rest for your iPhone or iPod touch. And as you can see in the above photo, the angle is pretty good for viewing while resting on your tray-table.

I like it!
And after enduring a 6hr flight, I can easily say that this was much better than paying for the inflight movie offering. Small, keeps my earbuds neatly coiled, and works as advertised.

This is one great way to show how helpful and friendly technology can be in our lives.

Thanks Eric, it is a simple little thing, yet it does make the experience a bit better.
