Could He-Man Make a Video Game Comeback?

The answer, at least according to today's announcement by THQ, is a surprising 'yes'.
It's been nearly ten years since I've played a He-Man video game, and quite frankly Power of Grayskull for the Game Boy Advance wasn't that good. I was hoping that He-Man: Defender of Grayskull for Xbox would redeem the series, but then it got delayed multiple times and only ended up releasing in Europe and for the PS2. Quite honestly I had long given up hope of a He-Man comeback but with today's announcement from THQ, there's a very real possibility that could happen in the coming years.
When your company's name takes inspiration from the words Toy Head-Quarters and your core focus is kid- and family-friendly games, it seems like a natural fit to partner with Mattel, the world's largest and most recognizable toy company. In a multi-year agreement made public today, THQ has announced that the company will be digging deep into the Mattel vault to produce video games and interactive experiences across all major platforms. While no specific titles were mentioned today, THQ is already busy developing multiple games that will be available this coming holiday season. Given the scope of today's announcement, these holiday titles could land on any platform from consoles and handhelds, to downloadable services such as Xbox Live, PSN and WiiWare, and there's even a possibility of iPhone and Facebook games.
Three franchises that will receive video game treatment include Barbie, Hot Wheels, and Fischer-Price; however, there is a possibility THQ will also explore the world's of Monster High, Rock 'Em Sock 'Em, Polly Pocket, and yes, Masters of the Universe.
The relationship between THQ and Mattel strengthened this past holiday season with the successful release of an interaction version of Pictionary (a Mattel property), a launch title for the uDraw GameTablet. A case study of sorts, Pictionary proved the combining the technical and creative resources at THQ and Mattel could produce winning results.
"We are excited to work hand-in-hand with the world's No. 1 toy company to bring a new level of entertainment to its already incredibly popular brands," said Martin Good, THQ's Executive Vice President of Kids, Family and Casual Games. "As we have shown with the combination of uDraw and Pictionary, there is enormous potential for the strategic relationship between THQ and Mattel. Through video games, we can build on some of the most famous and classic toy properties in the world, as well as unlock the entertainment potential of the newest creations from Mattel."
THQ is no stranger to producing interactive kid-friendly experiences having previously worked with Pixar on a number of movie license games including Ratatouille, Cars, and WALL-E.
When I was a kid I had replica Castle Grayskull and Skull Mountain models and would play "He-Man" for hours. Now as an adult I want to do the exact same thing, only this time virtually and with a controller in my hand. Who's with me in thinking that seeing a next-gen version He-Man yell "By the Power of Grayskull!" would be utterly awesome?
