Before letting your jaw drop to the ground with disbelief on who would actually buy diamonds to wash clothes – hear me out.
The research conducted by University of Warwick discovered that diamonds have a better cleaning power than regular detergents. However, they aren’t referring to the diamonds you’ll see at Tiffany’s or Spence. The diamonds referred in the study is called ‘nanodiamonds,’ pieces of carbon less than ten-thousandths the diameter of a human hair, can help to loosen crystalized fat from surfaces.
The researchers wanted discover a solution to help consumers to not being limited and rely on using too much hot water to wash their clothes. Even though washing with cold water is more environmentally friendly, as it takes up less energy than hot water, it hasn’t always been effective on cleaning a load of laundry.
Price? It’s fair to naturally believe that only the billionaires of the world would be the ones to consider this as their official cleaning product. DVICE discovered that you could buy a gram of nanodiamonds for around $24. I can’t tell if that’s affordable or not (overall). But it depends on how often you wash your clothes and how much you’ll be saving off the energy bill.
