For this installment of futuristic appliances, I want to introduce you to the MotherSpoon. The goal: social media gets infused into your kitchen experience with dose of your mama’s lovely recipes. More specifically, it’s suppose to help you learn your mom’s secret recipes without having her to write down the step by step process.
Let me take a moment to brag about my mom’s (aka Mama Pej) home-cooked Persian food. It’s to die for, and I’m not just saying that because she’s my mom. Her talent in the kitchen could potentially make Martha Stewart jealous. Nonetheless, I can never understand how she makes certain Persian recipes because it’s all from her memory and experience. “A little dash of this and a little dash of that” – doesn’t help my amateur cooking skills. She’s adopted a style of love and intuition that she just has a strong instinct of how much one ingredient needs more or less of for her Persian cuisine. Can she translate it into measurement? The answer is NO! I follow recipes, if I deviate, then that could be risky business.
I’m sure we can all relate on this matter, we love our mom’s home cooked meal. But how does she do it?
Enter: The Electrolux MotherSpoon
Okan Akgöl designed this concept and it comes with two sets of spoons and base. How this works, is that you and your mom buy your own pair of the Motherspoon. You register your information so that it syncs onto its file-sharing platform. So, when your mom prepares her famous recipe and uses her spoon to taste the food, the Motherspoon has a sensor to pick up the ingredients used and can calculate the actual recipes. After she’s done, she’ll put the spoon onto the cradle and it automatically uploads the recipes so that you can have access to it. Now you can cook like your mother! I still don’t think I would achieve the same kind of yummy. But it’s worth the effort, right?
For the social media part, the recipes that are uploaded can be shared to your friends list.
