Thanks to Mathew's write-up on the recently announced Assassin's Creed III, we know some of the backstory behind the game, and that Future Shop is currently accepting pre-orders for the game.  What you may not know is that if you pre-order Assassin's Creed III from Future Shop you'll receive a Limited Edition Steelbook case featuring artwork created by award-winning comic book artist Alex Ross.

The Limited Edition Steelbook cover may look familiar as it contains the very same image that was leaked online at the beginning of the month.

To provide some context behind the creation of the Steelbook cover, check out this Ubisoft video featuring Alex Ross:

For those unfamiliar with Ross's work, he's a prolific painter and illustrator who has produced artwork for many Marvel comics including Captain America and Marvels, and DC Comics such as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.

If you want to get your hands on this hot bonus item it's advisable to pre-order the game soon as Future Shop included the reminder that the bonus is "while supplies last".  The Steelbook will be shipping at game's launch.

Assassin's Creed III is releasing on October 30, 2012 and will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows PC.  A version is also in development for Wii U, however it's unclear at this point if it will be released on October 30, since Nintendo has thus far only set a release window of "year-end sales season" for the Wii U.
