Good news Android fans: This Wednesday, December 7, the highly-hyped Galaxy Nexus by Samsung is available for sale one-day in advance of the official launch day at one location only: Future Shop's flagship store in downtown Toronto at Yonge and Dundas. The world's first Android 4.0 (aka "ice cream sandwich") phone will be available for sale from 1:00 p.m. EST until store closing at 10:00 p.m. EST that day.

To celebrate the arrival of the Galaxy Nexus in Canada, Future Shop's downtown Toronto store has some exciting offers taking place this Wednesday only during the hours the device is on sale:

  • Free Adreama case with every Galaxy Nexus activation: Choose from a variety of colours to instantly outfit your new Galaxy Nexus.IceCreamSandwich.jpg
  • All cellular accessories for 50 per cent off: That's right, half off all cell accessories, so go ahead and get the bluetooth speaker, headset or Invisible Shield to beef-up or protect your smartphone.
  • Free ice cream sandwiches: How fitting given the operating system is nicknamed a tasty cool treat.

If you're in Toronto and anxious to be one of the first people in Canada to snap-up the new Galaxy Nexus, the downtown Toronto Future Shop at Yonge and Dundas is the most exciting and value-added destination to get it.

The Galaxy Nexus by Samsung is available at all other Future Shop stores on Thursday, December 8, 2011.

UPDATE: The Galaxy Nexus is now available for viewing online at Futureshop.ca.

This is a really exciting phone.  The Samsung Galaxy S2 is a beautiful phone and functions as a smartphone should.  To have this functionality with the addition of being able to get updates directly from Google is perfection.  Currently if you buy a phone that is not a Nexus you can be left waiting months or even indefinitely for new operating system updates which is a frustrating experience.  This is the major **bleep** in Androids armor.  The inconsistency of the updates between the hundreds of different phones that run Android creates doubt in the minds of potential customers.  Android currently has 43% of the mobile market share yet it does not get the attention it deserves.  It is time for companies to stop bowing to Apple and appeal the masses with Android applications.
