Google Play now has 675,000 apps for you to shop through, and the company wants to celebrate after they hit the 25 billion download mark. Since Wednesday, a selection of apps have been on sale for just $0.25 and new ones are being unveiled each day until the promotion ends on Sunday.
Aside from apps, there are also movies, books and music. And these aren’t no-name or mediocre apps, either. You’ll see options from the likes of Electronic Arts, Rovio, Runtastic and Gameloft available. As part of the celebration, Google will also offer its own lists for the 25 must-own movies, 25 banned books, 25 albums that changed the world and 25 top-selling magazines — all of which you can get at reduced prices as well.
Google Play is on fire. Back at the Google I/O conference for developers from June 27-29, the Play store was at 600,000 apps and 20 billion downloads. At this rate, it will hit 700,000 within a month. Apple’s App Store now only has a 25,000 app lead on Play.
