How To Find Your Mobile Upload Email Address For Facebook and Flickr

My iPhone 4 has become my camera of record. With the incredible Camera+ app, I’m taking and editing pictures while I’m enjoying summer.  I can instantly sort, crop, adjust and enhance my photos while I’m at the beach, the amusement park or campground.  If the day is too hectic, I’ll sit in the passenger seat on the ride home and do it then.  The Camera+ app has, literally, caused me to shelve my other cameras.

The only thing I didnt like about the iPhone as camera experience was the getting pictures off the phone and into iPhoto, Flickr, Facebook and other services I use to share and backup my photos.

With my camera, I would eject the memory card after each “event” and dump the photos to iPhoto and sort them there. With my iPhone, because of the complete random nature of the photos I take, I quickly hit 1000+ images on my phone that weren’t sorted or stored anywhere else.

Now I’m getting into the habit of dumping the phone photos in the same way I used to manage my memory cards, but there’s also a way to get your photos online while you’re in the field, through unique mobile email addresses provided by the site to each user.

Each account on Facebook and Flickr, for example, has a unique address that will accept emailed photos and then post them to your account.

Here’s how to find your mobile upload address on Facebook:

Go to https://www.facebook.com/mobile/ for all the detailed instructions on how to do it. In the bottom right corner of the window, you’ll see your unique address to upload photos and videos directly to your profile.  If you login and activate your user to be that of a page, you’ll get a different unique email address.

I then pop the account into my phone’s address book as “Facebook - Buzz Page” or “Facebook - Buzz Profile” and then it’s easy to instantly fire off photos and videos directly to a page.

Here’s how to find your mobile upload address on Flickr:

Go to http://www.flickr.com/account/uploadbyemail/ to get the tips on how to set up your account and to find your unique address.

Simply attaching your photos in an email will post them to your Flickr account. The subject line is used as the title of your photo, and the body of the email is used as the description. You can also set up email accounts for blogs so you can post to them with photos via email.  I do the same in my address book as with Facebook, setting up "Flickr-Account" entries for quick access.

The mobile email address for Flickr, Facebook and others is also a great way to get images off phones that may not be app friendly, but still have basic camera and email functions.

catch the buzz ... pass it on.
