Everyone loves USB flash drives. They’ve become the standard go-to method for portable data storage. They come in a seemingly endless variety of shapes, sizes, and configurations. There are so many available that can easily become daunting. We’ve already looked at some considerations to look at when shopping for one, and how size isn’t everything with USB flash storage. With all that data in your pocket, you might be neglecting its safety. Just because a USB flash drive can often be replaced for a few dollars doesn’t mean your data can, after all.
There are a lot of options you have to keep your USB flash drive, and by extension your data safe. Firstly you’ll notice that most USB flash drives come with a small through-hole near the end. This lets you attach them to things. If you attach your drive to your keychain, a lanyard or something else notable and noteworthy that you tend to carry with you, your drive will be a lot easier to spot, and a lot harder to forget anywhere.
Secondly if you’re really going to be taking a USB flash drive with you on your rough and tumble lifestyle, consider spending a little extra on a more durable drive. You can get something like the Corsair Voyager with an all-rubber housing to make it super robust, and even water resistant. The Corsair Survivor takes that durability even further with a housing of aircraft aluminum, waterproof to 200 meters, and is even shockproof.
Lastly, always remember to safely eject your USB flash drive before unplugging it. You should always eject your drive to make sure you don’t remove it while data is being read from or written to it, helping ensure that you don’t corrupt your data. It's just a good habit to form to help ensure that your drive, and the precious data you store on it will be safe and sound.
The proprietary all-rubber housing is extremely durable, water resistant and drop-tested for worry-free transport of your valuable data. With USB 3.0 speed and full USB 2.0 compatibility. Just plug it in and it works, with Windows, Mac OS X and even Linux. The Flash Voyager USB 3.0 is backed by Corsair, a respected name with a passion for quality and customer service.
Adventure-proof design: Constructed from lightweight aircraft-grade aluminum, waterproof to 200 meters with an EPDM water seal, and both shockproof and drop tested with a molded shock-dampening collar. The Flash Survivor USB 3.0 offers the high performance of USB 3.0 and full compatibility with USB 2.0.
