Kitchen Aid brings the heat: Commercial -grade ranges are on their way to consumers (vids)
Last week's Future Shop appliances training conference was a real treat. As you know from my prior posts, hundreds of Future Shop associates from across Canada flocked to downtown Toronto to learn what's new in appliances this year, receiving training from world-class manufactureres like Bosch, GE, Kitchen Aid, LG, Samsung and Whirlpool.
Three hot appliances hitting the market this spring and summer include Kitchen Aid's commercial-grade gas ranges and KFIS27 refridgerator, and Bosch's Tassimo single serve coffee maker. Here's what impressed me most about each, and also a short video with experts explaining why they'll make your jaw drop too:
- Kitchen Aid commerical-grade ranges: Finally, you can easily deck-out your kitchen with the equipment the pros use: Future Shop has struck a deal with the good folks at Kitchen Aid to sell gas ranges that are good enough to make Chef Gordon Ramsey drool in delight.
- Kitchen Aid KFIS27 refridgerator: Featuring 27 cu. ft. of space in what used to be a 25 cu. ft. capacity, the biggest "wow" factor is the digital screen where you can upload up to 100 photos to display, and also a function for ingredient suggestions when you run out of certain item. Very cool. This fridge is a great example of technology integrating deeper in our lives, something my colleagues at Future Shop are calling the "connected home."
- Bosch makes it hot with their Tassimo single serve coffee makers. They're sleek in appearance and have a fantastic bar-code recognition feature that identifies the type of beverage you're looking to make as soon as you insert your selected beverage of choice. The output: a hot beverage at the exact temperature it should be, every time.

This week, I'm back in Toronto for Future Shop's national training events for portable electronics. I'll be sharing here the latest and greatest in mobile audio (think iPod and Beats by Dr. Dre), digital imaging (cameras/camcorders) and GPS.
Rumour has it celebrities will be there, similar to last week at the appliance event when 2010 gold medalist, Maelle Ricker stopped by to meet Future Shop associates for an hour or so. Check out my upcoming posts later this week to see who shows up and discover what's hot in portable gear!
