LG Simplifies the Home Theatre Experience
Piecing together a home theatre can be a rewarding experience. Sitting back to watch your favourite movie in glorious 5.1 or 7.1 surround in the comfort of your home for the first time can be well worth the time and effort spent setting it up. That's not to say it doesn't take some work. Careful planning and research is needed to make sure you purchase the right components. For those who don't want the hassle, a home theatre in a box may be the solution.
LG is certainly known for its televisions and smartphones, but the Korea-based company has made huge strides in the home theater department over the past few years. It was one of the first companies to introduce apps such as Netflix to their line of Blu-ray players, and this year the company looks to improve features and drive down the cost without sacrifice.
For movie lovers there is the BH7420P home theatre system. The combo features a stylish blu-ray player which doubles as a receiver. Instead of the traditional disc tray many of us are used to, this blu-ray player has the sleeker slot loading mechanism, similar to what you would find on an iMac. The front buttons have also been upgraded to touch sensitive controls, giving it a clean modern look.
Add this home theatre system and enjoy a smart, full 3D theatre experience. The LG BH7420P includes a 3D Blu-ray player, as well as two tower and two small satellite speakers that will fill your room with immersive, realistic sound. The LG Smart TV feature with built-in Wi-Fi allows you to access nearly unlimited amounts of online movies, games, customizable apps, music, TV shows, and more.
LG likes to cram a lot of features into their Blu-ray players and this model is no different. It includes the same software found in their smart TVs. Connect the player to your home network and you'll have access to movies on demand as well as thousands of apps such as Netflix. You can even stream your media from DLNA devices in your home. If you're more of a 'plug and play' person, attach an external hard drive, thumb drive or another device to the built-in USB port to play your media.
The speakers are just as stylish as the blu-ray player itself, sporting a premium platinum black finish. The package comes with 5 speakers (two front towers, two rear, centre plus a subwoofer). LG has incorporated what it calls Sound Gallery, which lets you select from a seven different musical genres to enhance the listening experience.
Fear not Apple fans, the BH7420P supports all the latest IOS devices (past and previous generations) giving you full functionality to listen to your music. Not only that, one of my favourite features is the remote app. Once you install it on your smartphone you can have complete control over your home theatre system without having to pick up the remote.
When I first took a look at the price I thought it was a typo. At $499 the system certainly holds value considering it comes with speaker cable, AM/FM Antennas and remote. True, it's not a THX certified 7.1 surround sound system but for those looking to enter the home theater market it's certainly worth a look.
If the $499 price tag is a bit too steep, you may consider going the HB906PA bundle. It is similar but trims a few features found in the BH7420P bundle. Still a good value for your money.
The LG HB906PA combines the pristine audio clarity of a full surround sound system with the razor sharp detail of Blu-ray and the depth of 3D technology into a single console with 5 speakers and a subwoofer. The included speakers are capable of a total 1100 watts of power output, so you'll always experience great sound and volume when you need it.
If you already own a blu-ray player, you may opt for LG's TS913ES home theatre in a box. Instead of coming with a blu-ray player it comes with a receiver capable of putting out 1100 watts of power through 5.1 channels. This receiver is perfect for smaller home theater set-ups as it contains 3 HDMI inputs, so you can connect multiple high definition devices, a fantastic feature considering the low price point. Other receivers in this price range usually have only a couple HDMI inputs. This system also comes with digital audio inputs such as coaxial, and optical.
Once again a USB port is present to play external media. If you download content online or want an easy way to share family photos or home videos this feature can be valuable.
The speakers on this system are a bit more stylish, with a unique curved design near the base. Auto-calibration will ensure proper speaker placement and ideal sound no matter which room you place this setup in.
Upgrade your home theatre experience with the LG TS913ES home theatre system. It's an all-in-one system that delivers 1100 watts of power through 5.1-channels, so you hear sound all around you with volume, bass, and total tonal clarity. It comes complete with a USB input for connectivity with your external digital devices.
LG proves you don't need to spend a fortune on home theatre equipment to get a cinema experience at home. Sure you can spend thousands of dollars, but do you really need expensive equipment. Some will argue you can't spend enough money on compnents but an audiophile or videophile often spend thousands of dollars ensuring their home theatre is just that...a true home theatre. If you just want to sit back and enjoy movies on a grander scale without breaking the bank, an LG home theatre in a box bundles may be just what you're looking for.
