Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750 might just be the future of keyboards

The headline is a bit presumptuous, I know, but it’s a sense I got after playing around with Logitech’s vaunted solar keyboard. The K750 is a unique premise in that it’s a peripheral you can connect to more than just a PC or Mac, but what’s equally appealing is that you don’t have to worry about batteries for the life of the product.

It helps that the keyboard itself is a sleek little number. It’s about a third of an inch thin, has a nice finish and solid keys. The included USB adapter is also tiny, making it easy to plug into any source device you want. Like all Logitech products, the K750 doesn’t use Bluetooth, but rather its own proprietary wireless link to make the connection. In all Logitech products I’ve used, I’ve always found it to be a reliable link, even through walls and obstructions.

Having used the K750 with things as varied as a Windows laptop, an iMac (it doesn’t officially support Macs, but it works), a Boxee Box, and an Xbox 360, it performed well in all respects. It could be a bit lighter and a bit slimmer, especially since I have no need for the numeric keys on the right. Taking that out would make it even slimmer and portable than it is now.

But Logitech clearly intends this for the desktop first, and it serves that role very well. You will likely want to use the tilts underneath for a better angle, but others might prefer a flatter position that goes flush with the desk.

I didn’t have to worry about the battery at all in the three weeks I’ve used it. This included all those times I had it lying around without being used. The battery charges regardless of whether it’s artificial or sunlight, and the keyboard can stay charged for as many as three months in the dark.

The Wireless Solar Keyboard K750 is currently available at Future Shop for $89.99.

Nice!  It sounds like this could be a really nice keyboard.  So I take it that it uses a nano USB receiver?

As a heads up, Logitech did have 2 Bluetooth keyboards - the DiNovo Edge and the DiNovo Mini.  I have the DiNovo Edge and it's been great for the 3-4 or so years that I've had it.  That's one thing that I really like about Logitech... they make reliable products and if there are any problems, they stand by them.  The one thing I wish my keyboard had is actually one thing you would've been okay missing on this keyboard - I miss having a number pad.  Makes entering data a bit of a pain with the DiNovo Edge.  :smileyhappy:

Thanks for the feedback, Krypto! I had completely missed the DiNovo products Logitech came out with. Clearly, Bluetooth keyboards are the exception rather than the rule for Logitech, but the K750 sounds like it would be right up your alley. The number pad on the side is there, and you really don't have to worry about the battery (though it isn't a bad idea to turn off the keyboard when you're not using it). :smileyhappy:
