Mutant Blobs To Attack PS Vitas Soon
Canada is definitely a country that can be proud of its game developers, and in fact, there are so many that it's sort of hard to keep up and be proud of everyone. For example, it's entirely possible that you've overlooked a little Toronto studio, DrinkBox studios, who recently put out Tales from Space: About a Blob on PlayStation Network. Well, they're working on a follow up, Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack, and it'll be hitting--or at least they're planning on it hitting--on the PS Vita's launch.
If you're unfamiliar with the series, it's a side-scrolling puzzle platformer that features an "ornery" mutant blob that, after being held captive in a fifties-style retro sci-fi lab escapes into the world and sets out on a path to destroy and consume everything.
"We are all very excited about PlayStation Vita and to be part of the launch," said Ryan MacLean, CEO of DrinkBox Studios. "The system's next generation features have allowed us to really think outside of the box while developing Mutant Blobs Attack - it feels as though the technology has in some areas exceeded that of its console counterpart. We've had a lot of fun creating the game and we're working hard to get it out as soon as possible!"
Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack is to feature new powers, new PlayStation Vita controls, new gameplay modes, new puzzle solving elements, a new (faster) blob player character, and more, apparently, across its over two-dozen levels. There's all kinds of environments, too--if you did play the PS3 original, you'll remember that was one of the highlights, and in the Vita release they promise "everything from a frat house to a metropolis."
They're absolutely juicing up the controls for vita, too, with use of the front and rear touch pad, and Tilt-a-Blob" bonus levels featuring gyroscopic control.
Anyway, if you missed it, here's the announcement trailer from PAX 2011.
