Nintendo Announces Release Dates for First Half of 2013

Nintendo has unveiled their release schedule for early 2013, including firm dates for much anticipated games such as LEGO City Undercover, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.  Release windows were also given for many games first shown at last year's E3, including Game & Wario, The Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, and Wii Fit U

 

Additionally, Nintendo has compiled a list of upcoming third-party game releases, which includes many games fans have been waiting for such as Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Rayman Legends, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow -- Mirror of Fate.

 

The launch date schedule includes Wii U, Wii, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo DS.  Let's take a look at what to expect in early 2013!

 

Nintendo announced dates (or release windows) for thirty-two games expected to release in early 2013 across all their gaming platforms.  The breakdown is a dozen games for Wii U, three for Wii, thirteen for Nintendo 3DS, and four for Nintendo DS.

LEGO City Undercover

Release Date: March 18. 2013

LEGO City Undercover is an original game in the popular LEGO series, exclusive to Nintendo Wii U.  The game stars Chase McCain, an undercover cop who is a master of disguises.  In this open-world adventure, players will use his various moves to track down and apprehend criminals.  A Nintendo 3DS LEGO City game is also in the works, scheduled for release on April 21.

 

 

 

Game & Wario

Release Date: First half of 2013

Game & Wario continues the Wario tradition with fun and interesting micro-games that take advantage of the unique capabilities of the Wii U GamePad.  Some of the micro-games include Arrow, where players hold the GamePad vertically to fire arrows at swarming enemies, and Shutter, which turns the GamePad into a camera that must be used to take photos of hidden criminals before time runs out.

 

 

 

The Wonderful 101

The Wonderful 101 is an action title developed by acclaimed development studio Platinum Game, known for hits such as Bayonetta and MadWorld.  In the game, aliens have invaded Earth and it's up to a group of tiny heroes to combine their strength to save the planet. 

 

 

 

Pikmin 3

Release Date: First half of 2013

The sequel to the popular Nintendo GameCube is almost here.  In this real-time strategy game, players will take command of a group of diminutive Pikmin creatures as they attempt to complete various tasks such as destroying barriers, discovering objects, and defeating enemies.

 

 

 

Wii Fit U

The Wii Fit craze finally hits the Wii U with new exercises and unique incorporation of the Wii U GamePad into select activities.  In addition to compatibility with the Wii Remote and Wii Balance Board, Wii Fit U will come packaged with an all-new small peripheral called the Fit Meter that keeps track of your daily activity.

 

 

 

Fire Emblem Awakening

The Fire Emblem series has been around for a long time now, and fans should be excited for the series first entry into 3D.  Fire Emblem Awakening will tell a deep and involving story in rich 3D visuals and movies.  On the battlefield your allies can combine their powers, form relationships, and even marry each other -- each having a significant effect on the gameplay.

 

 

Brain Age: Concentration Training

The Brain Age series made its debut on the Nintendo DS and its brain training exercises proved to be quite addicting.  This latest iteration attempts to combat our distracted attentions with concentration training to help us refocus our minds on tasks that are important.

 

 

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon

Luigi is back for some more ghostly puzzle-solving action in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.  Using his flashlight and Poltergust 5000 ghost-sucking vacuum, Luigi must explore a haunted mansion and rid it ghosts with the help of Professor E. Gadd. 

 

 

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity

The Pokémon Mystery Dungeon spin-off series is back with a brand new entry.  There are over 20 dungeons filled with Pokémon, treasure, and fun places to explore.  Each of the dungeons have different characteristics and Pokémon that can be found and recruited onto your team.  Using the Nintendo 3DS camera players can discover entrances to new dungeons by scanning everyday objects around them.  Up to four players can join up locally for co-operative multiplayer action.
