Mickey Mouse is one of the world’s most iconic fictional characters, yet, surprisingly, he has never really been a popular video game character. In 2010 Disney and Junction Point Studios, led by legendary game designer Warren Spector (of Deus Ex fame), addressed this by successfully reinventing Mickey as a modern video game hero in their Wii-exclusive game, Disney Epic Mickey. Along with bringing Mickey Mouse to a new generation of gamers, Warren Spector also brought back one of Walt Disney’s first, and forgotten, cartoon characters, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.
While Epic Mickey did very well just on the Wii, Disney and Junction Point have decided to bring out the sequel, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, on almost every platform under the sun (it will be available for the Wii, Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Mac). The camera issues that plagued the first game have been addressed, and Epic Mickey 2 is built around co-op gameplay, with either a friend or AI controlling Oswald to help you achieve objectives together. On the Playstation 3 Move support has been added, and the Wii U version will included GamePad-specific features, such as the second screen being used as a map. The game now also features full voice-acting, and dialogue written by legendary comics writer Marv Wolfman.
