The wait is over.  Halo 4 has finally arrived and with it comes a sleek new Xbox 360 320GB Limited Edition Console releasing day and date with the game. We've had a chance to unbundle the contents and can't wait to tell you what's inside.

The bread and butter of this limited edition bundle is obviously the exclusive, custom designed Xbox 360 console, and wow does it look great.  With its distinct Halo 4 inspired design and translucent dark grey casing, this console looks unlike any other Halo bundles we've seen before, or gaming bundles in general for that matter.  Whereas the Halo 3 console was a solid matte green, and the Halo: Reach console was a metallic silver, the Halo 4 console has intricate designs on the front and sides, inspired by Forerunner design.  The see-through exterior lets you take a peak at the inner workings of an Xbox 360 console, including the DVD drive, fan and inner casing.

Sliding your finger over the power touchpad initiates a "dun, dun dun dun" sound bite, with the clip taken directly from Halo 4.  Similarly, touching the DVD open button makes a chiming sound as the tray slides out of the Xbox 360 console. I won't spoil what part of Halo 4 the sound bites are taken from, but it's a fun experience trying to listen for the sounds as you play through the Campaign.  (you can check out my review of Halo 4 here)

While it may seem a bit strange at first hearing noises when you power on and eject DVDs from your Xbox 360 console, the sounds do grow on you over time.

One other nice touch is the standard Xbox 360 green light ring has been replaced with a neon blue light, which stands in contrast to the deeper blue on the designs, further giving the console a more Halo 4 feel.

The actual unit itself is an enhanced Model S (the current Xbox 360 model on the market), with an extra large 320GB hard drive -- the largest drive available for Xbox 360.  This extra storage space is essential for hardcore gamers that tend to download a lot of DLC and use their Xbox 360 to store their entertainment.  The Model S finally introduced built-in WiFi functionality for wireless networking, and comes equipped with five standard USB 2.0 ports (two on the front, three in the back), and an additional custom UBS port to connect a Kinect sensor to.  For audio and video, there's an A/V slot, or more preferably and HDMI slot for true HD quality, as well as a built-in S/PDIF optical audio connector allowing for digital audio connection.

Inside the box is, of course, a copy of Halo 4.  While it does include the Standard Edition, and not the more content rich Limited Edition (see the overview here), there are still exclusive bonuses included in the bundle.  These bonuses include Halo 4 in-game downloadable content (DLC) tokens for new Spartan armour, a LightRifle skin, a unique unicorn emblem, plus content to outfit your Xbox 360 Avatar.

Also of note are two Wireless Xbox 360 controllers, featuring a similar design style as what's on the console.  Furthermore, the controller casing is also translucent, and it's even cooler to see the inner mechanics as you push face buttons and squeeze the top shoulder and trigger buttons.  Mimicking the console, the centre Xbox “Home” button also lights up with the distinct neon blue light.

Finally, the Halo 4 experience wouldn't be complete without the ability to chat online with your friends, and included in the box is a Wired Xbox 360 Black Headset (subscription to Xbox LIVE is not included).

Overall, the Xbox 360 320GB Limited Edition Halo 4 Console is a tremendous value given the truly one-of-a-kind design, adding in two Wireless Xbox 360 Controllers and a copy of Halo 4 only sweetens the deal.  While my favourite limited edition Xbox 360 is still the Star Wars Kinect Bundle (that's only because I'm a huge Star Wars nut -- see image here), the Halo 4 bundle is a must-have for hardcore Halo fans that are looking to upgrade their hardware, or new fans jumping on board for the first time.  Without a doubt, this is one of the best Xbox 360 limited edition consoles to ever hit the market.

In the process of transferring my data from old fat Xbox to this sleek new one.  LOVE the blue LEDs and the transluscent case!  I made the right choice :smileywink:
