After taking a pretty nasty blow with Skyrim's last update, Bethesda announced earlier today that update 1.3 is now available on Xbox LIVE.  While it was originally meant to hit consoles last week, the update does solve some of the many bugs from update 1.2 (i.e. magic resistance not calculated properly and the much-loved backwards flying dragons).

Unfortunately, PS3 users still have to wait a bit longer for this update -- strange considering this console seemed to take the biggest blow -- but according to Bethesda's blog the udpate is currently in Sony's hands.  With this news blog post dating back to last week, the update will probably be released very soon.

According to that same blog post, PC users already received their update earlier last week, but so far there hasn't really been much word on how it has affected those users.  Of course, there will always be complaints and a want for "even better performance", but chances of meeting those (dare I say unattainable?) wants and needs is a little slim considering the sheer size of this game.

For those who have already downloaded and applied the update, how has it affected your gameplay experience?

Below is a detailed list of improvements made in the new update:

Update 1.3 Notes (all platforms unless specified)

  • General stability improvements
  • Optimize performance for Core 2 Duo CPUs (PC)
  • Fixed Radiant Story incorrectly filling certain roles
  • Fixed magic resistances not calculating properly
  • Fixed issue with placing books on bookshelves inside player purchased homes
  • Fixed dragon animation issues with saving and loading
  • Fixed Y-look input to scale correctly with framerate
