Steve Jobs Is Santa

JobswithSantaHat.jpgI don't want to sound like an Apple evangelist, but I'm almost on the verge of knocking on doors in the neighborhood and asking people if they have accepted Steve Jobs as their personal Santa.

It's list making time and regardless of whether we've been naughty or nice the past 12 months, we all have wants this time of year.  As I checked off the items on my wish list, I realized that they all came from one place, and it wasn't the North Pole.

Santa might want to change the postal code from H0H 0H0 to 95014 this year because he will be spending a lot of time in Cupertino collecting things for the big night.

Already Oprah has declared the iPad her most favourite thing of all time, and countless stories have been written about how the sleek tablet is this year's Tickle Me Cabbage Patch Kid, but there are other items in the toy shop that are equally worthy of being included in my letter to the jolly old elf.

Dear Santa Steve,

I've been a very good boy this year.

I'd like an Apple TV so that I can stream content from iPad and iPod and Macbook directly to my tv in the bedroom.  The iTunes 4.2 upgrade was an excellent idea and since you've slimmed down the Apple TV it will fit nicely next to my sock drawer.

I know your elves have been working hard to make all the iPhone 4s that they can, and I've been waiting for them to catch up on the backorders.  Santa Steve, I'd love it if I could upgrade my iPhone 3G to the iPhone 4 and take videos and crisp photos and have a quick app loading experience.

The Macbook Air is a stroke of genius, Santa Steve.  It's light, portable and robust.  While my Macbook has been a workhorse these past few years, I'm now 40 and wouldn't mind a lighter load to take back and forth to work each day.

Of course I still love to shoot and edit movies of my little boys, so replacing my old chugging PC desktop would be wonderful too.  Those shiny iMacs are still a thing of beauty, so if you can squeeze one on to your sled, that would be great.

But it's not just about me this season, Santa Steve, my wife could use an upgrade for her old desktop too.  She just checks Facebook and Email, so a Mac Mini would be an awesome way to ease her into this beautiful Mac world.  It's all the goodness of the Mac in a package the size of a hardcover book.  It can tuck away cleanly on her desk and give her a much better web experience than she's currently having.

And if there is a way, one day, for you to come up with an iComposter, that would be great.  I feel so guilty scraping all those peels and food waste into the garbage each day.

I'll be sure to leave some raw carrots and a fresh mock turtleneck for you on the fireplace mantle again, just like last year.

Love,

Buzz.

catch the buzz .. pass it on.

Dear Santa Steve,

Please fix iTunes on PC so it isn't hateful. Please make it so I can easily drag and drop files (especially photos and video) from my iPod touch. Please make it so I can delete the apps that come installed on the touch, actually. I mean, I've turned the stocks app into a currency converter but I still don't want it. Please admit that the Macbook Air is a netbook, and that netbooks are a fine thing. Please...

Actually I could go on and on but you won't do any of this stuff, will you Santa Steve?

no love at all,

Mathew
