I love smoothies but refrained from making them because my lazy side dislikes cleaning the blender afterwards. Then my mom told this great trick on how to clean your blender in half a minute. Here is how it goes:
STEP 1: Once you’ve finished making your smoothie (or whatever), take your blender and fill it half-way with water; warm or hot water is preferred.
STEP 2: Throw in about three to five drops of dishwashing soap into your blender.
OPTIONAL: If you have half a lemon, squeeze the juice into the blender. You could even cut up a slice (or two) and throw it into the blender too. This will help to eliminate any odors and will also act as a germ killer.
STEP 3: Then put the blender back on the base and hit the high speed button or I use the “liquefy” feature. Let the blender spin for 15-20 seconds.
STEP 4: Now, you’ll have soapy water. Use that substance to also clean the lid of your blender. Rinse off the soapy water from the blender and its lid.
STEP 5: Place the blender upside down on a dish drying rack or on a towel to air dry. Sweet, now was that fast!
ANOTHER TIP: Now, let’s say you’ve done this and found that there are some stubborn areas or stains that won’t clean. Repeat the steps above and add a sprinkle of baking soda. That should do the trick.
I sometimes spill a little bit of mix on the stand of the blender. It’s a good idea to take the nice soapy water you’ve produced and pour it onto a clean, dry cloth. Then use this cloth to wipe down your stand.
I hope this easy cleaning tip has made you want to consistently use your blender. If you want some great smoothie recipes, check out a previous post. If you have any other tips on fast ways to clean your blender, please comment below. We’d love to hear your thoughts.
