Tax Time Made Easy On Your iPhone

It's tax season and the shelves are crowded with software solutions.

As you might expect, if you've got an iPhone and struggling to do your taxes - there's an app for that.

A quick wander through the app store will turn up many taxing solutions, but be careful which ones you go with. Some are US only (even in the Canadians iTunes store) and won't serve up the answers you need - H&R Block, for example.

TaxCalc will help you estimate income taxes on your income from province to province.

Canada Income Tax Calculator is more powerful at $2.99, allowing you to include deductions and payments to RRSP and the like.

Canadian Income Tax Calculator is on sale for .99 during tax season and includes a robust selection of features including investment income.

While these calculating apps are great at helping you estimate your tax bill, they won't help you actually get organized to file your taxes.

Perhaps the best way to get your taxes done, much like homework in high school, is to avoid the cramming and get a little bit done each day throughout the year.

Check out an app like Evernote which lets you take photos of receipts and categorize them to file later or iXpenseIt which can tabulate your expenses to keep you on budget.

Taxes aren't as taxing if you create good habits. It's easy while you're waiting in line to make the transaction to take a few extra seconds to track your money so when spring rolls around you're not stressed out.

catch the buzz ... pass it on.
