The Empire invades CES 2011: Hooray, Star Wars Trilogy on blu-ray

One of the coolest announcements made on the first official day of CES 2011 is Darth Vader's warp-speed visit with a legion of his finest Imperial troops to Panasonic's show stage to announce Star Wars Saga is coming to blu-ray. That's right Star Wars fans, the good people at Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment shared they are bringing up to nine(!) Star Wars films, which include extras featuring dozens of hours of special features, alternate and deleted scenes.

This announcement is backed by The Force for one major reason: Fox's release is the first time all six movies are offered in one special bundle. This set is a must-have for all Star Wars fanatics.

So when does it hit your local Future Shop store or the nifty www.futureshop.ca? September 2011 is the expected arrival from the galaxy far, far away on blu-ray to the following skus:

  • Star Wars Complete Saga BD (nine disks)
  • Star Wars Original Trilogy BD (three disks)
  • Star Wars Prequel Trilogy BD (three disks)

I was given the scoop that preorders may start in Canada through www.futureshop.ca as early as tomorrow with pricing. Awesome.

May the force be with you.

I've been waiting for this for a long time.  I have refused to buy any Star Wars movies on DVD simply because I have been waiting for this for YEARS.  I will be one of the first ones in line to buy this the day it comes out.

I'm waiting until I know for sure whether Brana can get a steelbook or some kind of limited cool thing out of it.

Star Wars 3D for 3DTV - what do you think?

The issue is accessibility though - not everyone who would love to see Star Wars 3D would have a 3D tv (I don't).  Until we are all kitted out with 3D TV's ready for Star Wars 3D, I'm sure there will be record breaking queues and ticket sales if/when Star Wars 3D hits the big screen!

@Juice0904 - You have amazing patience, waiting until the Blu-Ray versions to be released!

It's not something I've been known for when it comes to things like this.  I mostly waited because I wanted to wait to get the whole set together, and there was no full boxed set released.  So I waited....and waited...and waited.  Now that it's here, I'm ecstatic :smileyhappy:
