There's no denying Facebook's Timeline feature is controversial. In fact, recent online polls indicate 70 percent of users hate the new mandatory feature. Well here's a fun little website that can take your mind of the controversy and have a little fun with it by creating a cool movie out of your own Timeline.

Definition 6 collaborated with Facebook on this creative tool. To use it all you have to do is go to the Timeline Movie Maker website, sign in using your Facebook account and watch as it does the rest!

First lets get one thing out of the way; yes you must give the application access to your account. There's just no way around it. It does warn that is has the right to post status updates on your behalf but in my time using the application I have never found this to actually happen.

Once you sign in the automated application will browse through your photos, status updates and movies. The program will tell you that it's picking photos showing your "good side" or choosing your "I-remember-when's". After about a minute a button will pop up telling you your movie is ready to play.

The end result is a fun, minute-long video which takes you on a nostalgic trip through your time spent on Facebook. Photos are randomly chosen and displayed in order of their posting. It will even insert audio clips from videos you have uploaded to your account. If you don't like the photos or the music the website picks for you then you can swap them out. Once you have a version you are happy with you can then share your movie with family and friends.

After playing around with the website for a while I noticed that no matter how many times you sign in it always creates the same video. If you want it to be different it will be up to you to make those changes. You also must have at least 75 photos posted on Facebook or else it won't have enough variety to create a movie for you.

Timeline Movie Maker is probably not a website you will visit more than once but it's a fun five minute timewaster. It's worth trying at least once. If you're that concerned about privacy issues simply revoke acess to the application once you are done, then you don't have to worry about the possibility of Timeline Movie Maker posting to your wall.

Have you already tried it out? What do you think of it?

Timeline is mandatory?  Since when?  I'm still rocking the old, pre-Timeline Facebook....

Also, does the movie include tagged photos, or just ones that you have uploaded yourself?

Seems to only be the photos you upload.
