Where Is Your Favourite Place to Use Your iPad
Okay, it's pretty fair to say that a lot of people in Canada have iPads now. So if you have an iPad, where have you found you use it the most? For example, although I have my iPad with me most of the time and I used it pretty much everywhere, I really use it on the couch. As an ironic "be connected to pay more attention" kind of thing, I've found that I can pick up my iPad to look up something on IMDB (for those "hey isn't that…." during a movie) or check Twitter, then put it back down. It isn't distracting, it's there if I need it. On the other hand if my laptop is upstairs with me, I'll get sucked into something very quickly and then suddenly "together time" has turned into "hey the movie's over?" because both of us have been sucked into the vortex of the Internet.
So, where do you find yourself using your iPad the most? The readers of CNET talked about the car (that would be a no-no here in BC unless you're a passenger), kitchen, bathroom (yeah you knew that one was coming), in class as well as a number of others. Maybe a good extension to the question is whether the iPad has opened up computing into new places?
I would be remiss if I didn't share with you a couple new apps that I picked up recently that I really enjoy. The first is iThoughtsHD, which seems to be the best mindmapping app for the iPad short of Omni Graffle (which is $50 compared to $8 for iThoughtsHD). I've been putting iThoughts to good use prepping for last weekend's WordCamp Vancouver.
The other app that apparently people were dying to come out with an iPad version is Reeder which is held up as the best RSS reader on the iPad. It's only $3 and not only syncs with Google Reader (which I've had to go back to recently), but has a gorgeous and intuitive interface.
There you have it. So, your favourite place and what are a couple of great apps you've just started using?
