Probably one of the coolest additions to Nintendo's upcoming console, the Wii U, is the Gamepad controller. The Gamepad removes the barriers between you and your game, making the experience that much more involving during playtme. It makes us think about the way we play our games and how we can branch off from the traditional norms and create something fulfilling.
Aside from offering a companion screen (i.e. maps and menus) while playing a video game and offering an alternative screen when playing mobile, the Wii U Gamepad boasts many more unique features worth getting to know. Here's what you can expect.
Motion Controls: The Gamepad's built-in gyrocscope and accelerometer allows for plenty of intuitive motion-control gameplay.
Built-in Camera/Microphone: As you might have guessed, you can use these features for certain games, video chats between consoles and more.
TV Control Button: With this cool new application feature you'll never have to worry about having a TV remote again.
NFC Technology: By using the Gamepad's built-in near-field communication technology, you can access, import and transfer data from supported devices. This may include payment transactions via a supported credit card, reading AR cards and more. NFC is still in the works, but we'll probably hear much more about this innovative technology soon.
Home Button: This button let's you access a variety of applications which you can access without leaving the game you're playing. Here are some of them:
- Nintendo TVii:This app lets you watch TV shows, movies, sports and more from various different cable and satellite channels, video-on-demand services and TiVo. Once you find what you're looking for you can either watch or set a DVR recording if you plan on watching it later. You can also share what your watching with your family and friends via different social media outlets. To top it all off, it's free with no subscription fees. How is that for awesome?
- MiiVerse: This cool new applications opens up a whole new level of gamer involvement, letting you share your Wii U experiences, discover tips and tricks and meet other gamers all over the world.
