Xbox 360 Teams Up With Entertainm ent Leaders to Transform TV
A new era in television begins this holiday, opening up new exciting possibilities for Microsoft's Xbox 360. Microsoft has officially announced nearly 40 TV and entertainment providers that are coming to Xbox Live in North America and abroad. Through this partnership, millions of 360 users will see first-hand just how personal, effortless and social TV entertainment can be.
These providers will include Rogers on Demand, MSN Canada, UFC, Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment/Real Sports, Telus, Astral Media’s Disney XD and many more. Together, these providers will roll out entertainment services to Xbox LIVE, in more than 20 countries. And while it's still unclear exactly how this content will all be accessed, it seems like the process will be seamless and even a little groundbreaking, allowing users to effortlessly switch from games to music to live TV and more, simply by telling your Xbox what you want to experience via Kinect.
“Today’s announcement is a major step toward realizing our vision to bring you all the entertainment you want, shared with the people you care about, made easy,” said Don Mattrick, president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. "Combining the world’s leading TV and entertainment providers with the power of Kinect for Xbox 360 and the intelligence of Bing voice search ...”
Coming to the 360 this holiday, possibly as part of the upcoming dashboard update on November 15, Microsoft will continue to introduce new entertainment and technology, taking advantage of Kinect and LIVE along the way. Who knows how far-reaching this could soon potentially become? All we know is that Microsoft is hard at work creating something extremely compelling.
