Xenoblade Chronicles Out April 6; Box Art Revealed
According to a recent slew of news, Nintendo has announced that the long-awaited Xenoblade Chronicles will finally be released in North America April 6. While the Nintendo Wii isn't known for its JRPG library, this is one that I don't think anyone interested in the genre can afford to miss. Praised as being one of the best modern JRPGs out today, it's great to know that Nintendo has listened to interested fans and helped bring this classic our way.
While it's true that Nintendo did announce more than our fair share of news on upcoming releases earlier today, I want to focus this news update on Xenoblade Chronicles simply because I feel it truly deserves the limelight. What I find so compelling about this game's release is the excruciatingly long 2-year wait (the game was first released in Japan on June 10, 2010 and was later released in Europe on August 19, 2011), and its extremely dedicated fanbase (surprisingly enough, one where many of the people awaiting this game haven't even played it). I find dedication like this phenomenal as it shows just how determined and passionate gamers can be.
A fan group by the name of "Operation Rainfall" were some of the first to voice their opinions (and very strong ones, I might add) to Nintendo about a trio of JRPGs that were, at the time, unannounced for North America (Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story and Pandora's Tower). Since then, all three titles have since been announced for release (or have already been released) in other regions, including The Last Story which is set to be released on the Wii in North America not long after the release of Xenoblade Chronicles. Pandora's Tower, however, has not received any such news (hopefully it will follow in the same footsteps).
The fact that Xenoblade Chronicles is finally being released here is definitely something to celebrate over, but if you're looking for a little icing on the cake Nintendo has also released an image of the fan-chosen box art (which you can find resting comfortably at the top of this post). Things have never seemed sweeter.
