How do you make the most popular sports game franchise better each year to keep it at the top of the heap? It’s a question that EA has to consider every time they release the latest iteration of FIFA, but at least there’s an upstart in Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) franchise that is willing to step up and compete. It’s an uphill battle to catch up, and perhaps that’s why FIFA 13 is more about tweaks than a major shift in how the game is played.

It’s funny how Apple do so many things really well, but just misses the boat on a few core apps on the iPad. XCOM: UFO Defense (AKA UFO: Enemy Unknown in Europe) wasn't supposed to be a scary game. When it launched in 1994, the game was advertised as a deep, turn-based strategy game with base-building elements; you would respond to an alien invasion by building a team of expert soldiers and scientists, killing and capturing the invaders to research their technology before taking the fight back to them.
The reality of it was that the game was terrifying. Each mission would pit your woefully inexperienced fighting force against vastly superior alien enemies with powerful tech. The turn-based assault stages featured cruel line-of-sight; death lurked around every corner and on top of every building, just out of vision's range. Xcom had a unique way of notifying you that you could see an alien (and by proxy, that they could see you): a flashing number in the corner of the screen. And that's where my Xcom nightmares came from.

Internet Explorer, the ubiquitous but much maligned browser has been staging a pretty serious comeback lately. There are plenty of tablets out there for you to chose from. A lot of them look pretty similar. With that in mind, the Toshiba A270 is a welcome change. Toshiba has shown off Android tablets before, so they certainly have some experience with these. Rachael Ray enters the 7th season of her highly successful TV show. And she’s going into the new season with a whole new look and feel. She took away the old kitchen look and completed stainless steel makeover for the set. Ray’s previous kitchen resembled Rachel Green and Monica Geller’s kitchen from the show Friends. It had a lot of color, clutter, with a cutsie approach that emulates Ray’s style. With the new kitchen look, it seems that Rachael Ray wanted to bring a sexier feel for the new season. The new set looks cleaner, spacious, and organized.
