Resident Evil 6 Details: 2013 in 2012

by Retired Blogger on ‎02-18-2012 03:51 PM

Resident Evil 6 is out on November 20th, which means that Capcom can't really have a slow drip-drip-drip of information but more needs a constant stream... and so it has began, and even their mum yelling at them they're wasting water isn't going to get them to turn the tap off. Um, not that they're streaming water, but information, which you can't really waste.

Top 5 Time Wasting Apps

by Blogger on ‎02-17-2012 06:54 PM

time wasting.pngTime wasters.  While the boss may not like them, we need them.  The phone fills in the gaps waiting in line at the grocery store, the dentist, the bank, even red lights.  But that's illegal in many provinces.

Want some good time suckers? That's easy - fire up Twitter, or Facebook on your iPhone and you'll be lost forever.  But those are gimmies.  Too easy.

Here are 5 other ways to kill time waiting in the ER.

Review: Dyson DC37

Dyson cylinder.jpgThere are two certainties with every Dyson vacuum: it will be beautiful, and it will suck (and that's a good thing).

The latest home appliance combination of technology and esthetics adds another title to its resume: it defies physics.

Unless you were one of the people who ordered a PS Vita "First Edition" Bundle, you actually don't have a PS Vita in your hands right now (and even if you did order it, you might not, literally, have a PS Vita in your hands while you read this, unless you're reading this on a PS Vita, which seems totally possible.) However, even with the handheld not being officially released until the 22nd of February (next Wednesday) you can buy pretty much the system's entire launch slate already. Ubisoft got in touch with us to let us know all about the games they've put on the system that you can buy right now, so we're going to spotlight those. Other video games from other publishers are available!

Nostalgic video games certainly have a way of pulling at heartstrings. A game doesn't necessarilly need to be considered retro in order for it to be nostalgic. As long as you share a sentimental bond, lingering memories of that time can re-emerge in some of the most amazing ways. Here's a 20-minute behind-the-scenes video remembering the original Jak and Daxter games and delving into the development behind the newly released Jak and Daxter Collection.

Here's probably all you need to know: Rhythm Heaven Fever for Nintendo Wii is out now, it costs $29.99, and you should buy it.

Far Cry 3 Cinematic Trailer Released

by Blogger ‎02-15-2012 11:27 AM - edited ‎02-15-2012 02:04 PM

A new cinematic trailer for Far Cry 3 has now been officially released, the latest trailer to emerge since its debut at E3 last June. While the trailer doesn't include any new gameplay footage, it does feature more than our fair share of beautiful CGI graphics (it's amazing how realistic video games have now become) and dubstep music (not sure how I feel about this one). Check it out below:

Skyrim! Or to give it its proper title, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Of the people I know, it's actually the game they're all still playing the most, with nothing else having quite managed to drag them away from it. And to be honest I'm starting to worry that nothing will pull them away from it, with Bethesda having recently launched the Skyrim Creation Kit.

C920 - Logitech's new HD Pro Webcam

by Blogger on ‎02-13-2012 06:04 PM - last edited on ‎04-30-2012 04:17 PM by Moderator

These days there are so many products that claim to be ‘HD’ and ‘Pro’ and really what that means can be all over the map. I always chuckle a little when mediocre products are given the ‘Pro’ title just to justify a price hike from the next lower model with minimal added quality. In my mind, a product deserves to be called ‘Pro’ when its truly professional grade - when its high quality, reliable, versatile and not leaving the buyer wanting. Don’t get me started on all the products claiming to offer HD without really delivering on the promise of high definition clarity. Thankfully with the c920 Logitech HD Pro Webcam they seem to have gotten all of that right.

TurboTax 101: Comparing Softwares

                  TurboTax Canada.jpg

It's never too early to prepare for tax season.  For some of you, you've spent the whole year organizing and marking your receipts, while most of you haven't even scratched the surface of your pile hiding away somewhere in your desk drawers (I'll admit, I'm part of that latter). So let's face it, tax season can be monotonous and, later, hectic.  Saving and organizing receipts can be tedious, but there are also many benefits.  There's nothing better than receiving a big tax return cheque followed by several GST/HST cheques throughout the year. Not only that but getting into the habit of staying up to date with your payments and avoiding procrastination is a good exercise in self-discipline and self-motivation.

Could an Android phone with a keyboard replace a BlackBerry?

by Blogger on ‎02-12-2012 03:17 PM - last edited on ‎05-03-2012 10:25 AM by Retired Moderator

Motorola Pro+ 4G.jpgIt was with the premise in the headline that I borrowed a Motorola Pro+ 4G, one of the most recent Android phones that closely resembles a BlackBerry. By offering a QWERTY keyboard along the same lines as a BlackBerry running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, could that be enough to win converts away from RIM?

Review: Puddle

by Blogger on ‎02-12-2012 09:50 AM - last edited on ‎05-03-2012 09:57 AM by Retired Moderator

The Xbox Live Marketplace and PSN are quickly becoming my 'go to' place to find the little gems of the gaming world. Independent game developers are proving you don't need to spend millions of dollars to come up with an interesting, fun concept for games. Take Puddle for instance. Two years ago six French students entered their simple physics puzzle game into GDC's Independent Game Festival. It took home top prize in the Student Showcase category. Now Konami is bringing this addictive physics platformer to home consoles.
