Review: Grimm Season One

by Blogger ‎08-30-2012 07:08 PM - edited ‎08-30-2012 07:51 PM

MFtqN.jpeg

Ever since I was a kid, I loved reading Grimm's Fairy Tales.  The stories I remember reading were extremely visual, dark and disturbing, carefully depicting a classic sense of horror that was both terrifying and exciting.  What I enjoyed most about these stories were the intertwining lore and how even the slightest actions could affect a character's future.   I liked that sense of drama and suspense just as much as I loved learning about the different characters and their unfolding stories.  It's no wonder these tales are still so popular today, especially considering all the supernatural-themed television shows and movies constantly being churned out.  Let's admit, people love being scared.

Playing off of the success of horror thriller heartthrob Supernatural, CTV/NBC has taken it upon themselves to air a new supernatural drama based on Grimm's Fairy Tales, Grimm.  While it might seem like a predictable choice at first, this new television show is much more inventive than meets the eye, and slowly grows into its role.

Gamers rejoice: It's PAX TIME again!

by Blogger on ‎08-30-2012 12:30 PM

Screen Shot 2012-08-30 at 12.20.05 PM.pngIt’s that time of year again! For folks on the best coast, it’s time for PAX Prime, the grassroots expo that gives E3 a run for its money. We’re headed down to PAX in Seattle to get the scoop on the latest titles and the coolest stuff on the show floor, to take in a few panels, and to see what we’ll be drooling over for the next year!

PAX was started in 2006 as part of the Penny-Arcade Empire created by Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik, better known as their drawn counterparts Gabe and Tycho in the Penny Arcade comic strip. Working with their longtime business manager Robert Khoo (known simply as Khoo to his adoring fans) they rented out some space and launched the first PAX. Incredible success is an understatement, as the convention grew to the point where it was too large for their space and they traded up to the Washington Trade Centre.

The boombox is much more than a portable stereo -- it’s a fashion statement that harkens back to an era of big hair and bright clothing, when bobbing your head in rhythm was so widely practiced that it was practically considered a sport. Instead of enjoying your music via tiny ear buds, boomboxes allow you to share your soundtrack with the world (at an acceptable volume, of course). Here are a few options that can easily transform your tiny, digital music player into an all-out portable party.

Review: Motorola RAZR V

by Blogger ‎08-26-2012 07:24 PM - edited ‎08-26-2012 07:25 PM

Motorola RAZR V.jpgSince Motorola reinvented the RAZR into a smartphone last fall, the company has been rebranding itself on the sly. Part of that has to do with Google now owning Motorola as a subsidiary, and the other part is based on the legacy of the RAZR brand. The RAZR V isn’t going to take over the mantle of the company’s flagship phone this year (the Atrix HD LTE will do that), but it does expand on what a RAZR smartphone is designed to be.
