The new Apple TV has received much less fanfare as the new iPad.  Both were released 3 weeks ago, and while you may be constanly craving the new iPad, the new Apple TV will offer an equally jaw dropping experience, for much less money.

Here's a review of the new Apple TV.

Google TV Sony.jpg

My fellow bloggers, Elliott and Buzz, have weighed in with their thoughts from CES 2012 in Las Vegas, and what they see as the big factors for the next 12 months until we do it all over again. That leaves it to me to offer my two cents about what I think will come from the show, and why the companies that aren’t there sometimes reap the benefits.

Flat screen mount.jpg

As the Christmas shopping season started ramping up, I was asked by a relative about the prospect of wall-mounting his TV — something that immediately triggered in me the experience I went through in doing it myself. Undoubtedly, there’s something more ornamental about having it hang off a wall, but proper research and planning are a must if you want to wall-mount your TV.

SlingPlayer Boxee 1.jpgThe folks at Sling Media have been fairly busy in the last few weeks, what with SlingPlayer software apps being released for Android, Facebook and now the Boxee Box. I’ll be writing a post on the Android experience in a few days, but since the Boxee Box app just came out, I played with it for a few hours and found it to be a great debut.

Software Updates for Apple TV

by Blogger on 10-20-2011 05:48 AM - last edited on 10-20-2011 05:57 AM

appletv.jpgI got my cable bill this week. $170 for phone, internet and television.  It's too much. While many people have already cut the home line ($37 a month is what we're paying for my wife's piece of mind), the scissors are starting to come out for the television side of the monthly bill as well.

With the latest updates to Apple's iOS5, Apple TV got a little upgrade too which is making cutting the cable a little easier (if you've got the guts).

by Blogger on 09-01-2011 07:25 AM - last edited on 09-01-2011 08:04 AM

rabbit-ears-190x250.jpgYesterday was the last day for analog broadcast in Canada - most broadcasters are switching to digital broadcasts for over the air broadcast

While most of us have switched to flat panel tvs and have high definition boxes, pvrs and gadgetry for our cable subscription, 10% of Canadians were still getting local tv over the air - for free.

TV for free?  I totally forgot you could do that.

But if you have an HDTV with a built-in digital tuner (which they pretty much all have) and a digital antenna, then you’ve already made the move to digital. Or, if you have an old TV and a digital converter box, you’re also good to go.

aTV-Flash-Black-Beta-2-Apple-TV.jpgVHS. Cassette decks. Record players. Video stores.

If the nail hadnt been drilled down all the way with the likes of Netflix and On Demand services from cable companies, the release of the Apple TV further hammers the point home that when it comes to getting entertainment into your home on your tv, you no longer need to drive to the video store to make it happen.
