Samsung Stoves

by Blogger on ‎02-17-2014 06:51 AM - last edited on ‎02-21-2014 04:15 PM by Blog Editor in Chief

A kitchen isn’t much of a kitchen without a heat source. Continuing our look at how Samsung injects its gadget expertise into everyday appliances, let’s turn our attention to the humble stove.  They seem pretty straightforward, right? People don’t often take a look at what’s new with appliances so it is easy to just think that they’re all pretty much the same. With some of the more modern models you may be surprised to learn that they offer as much high technology and fancy features as any new gadget. Looks can be deceiving. The latest models from Samsung can be as different from your old stove as your new smartphone is from that old flip-phone you had in the 1990s.

I’m pretty stoked writing about LG Washer & Dryers. I have a pair myself and have been very happy with them for 7 years.  A cool look was one of the reasons we were first drawn to an LG Front Load Laundry pair, but its reputation and reviews were what made us go ahead with the purchase.

The kitchen is one area of the house that seems to always change, yet somehow always stay the same. Stoves, refrigerators and microwaves have been staples in the kitchen for decades now but these things change and advance over the years. While most people don’t think of upgrading theirs too often unless something goes wrong, it can be easy to miss a lot of the technological advancements that the latest models offer. With Samsung’s prowess in high tech electronics, they’re the perfect example of what can be done when you apply the latest technologies and smart thinking to everyday appliances.

Samsung's Dishwasher & Laundry technology

Samsung is one of those giant tech companies that seems to excel at anything they touch. Their smartphones, TVs, and tablets make news all the time, for example. Their PCs are objects of envy by many. One thing I love about them is that they don’t just focus their efforts and knowhow on niche gadgets. They routinely inject what they learn making high tech toys into the sort of items you might expect to be otherwise referred to as ‘mundane’. Today we’ll look at some of their gadgets that are built specifically to help you in your day-to-day cleanup chores around the house. When an experienced technology company like Samsung make machines to wash your dishes or your clothes, you’ll be surprised at what a vital role tech can play to make routine chores something a little more special.

Review: Dyson's immensely powerful DC62 Stick Vacuum (and the DC61 too!)

by Blogger on ‎01-23-2014 04:35 PM - last edited on ‎01-29-2014 09:57 AM by Blog Editor in Chief

For me there’s only one vacuum brand I’m interested in anymore, and that’s Dyson. My original DC23 has been bequeathed to a friend, and these days I’m rockin’ a DC51 Animal and my DC35 Digital Slim.

Two vacuums might seem a bit excessive, and two Dysons more so, but I find that 90% of the vacuuming I do is achieved with the handheld Digital Slim (either with a short attachment or the longer floor adapter with either the powered head or the Animal head on it) and the other 10% absolutely needs the power I enjoy from Dyson’s full-sized vacuums.

I think you can agree that it was fair for me to be skeptical when I heard about the Dyson DC62 Digital Slim. This is a vacuum that promises the power of a full-sized model in a handheld format. I was even more skeptical when the box showed up; it’s roughly the same size as the DC35 box… so how were they going to pack more power into this thing?

In just a couple weeks from now, it’ll be time to say goodbye to the Year of the Snake and hello to the Year of the Horse! Chinese New Year is a celebratory time filled with festivities, good eats, and presents that bring good fortune, happiness, and prosperity.

There are over 1.5 million Chinese people living in Canada, but you certainly don’t have to be Chinese to participate! How? Well according to tradition, good luck comes from replacing old broken dishes and kitchenware, as well as sharpening dull knives. While I may not be able to sharpen your knives, I do have some great kitchenware recommendations that can help boost your luck for the New Year!

New Year’s Resolution: Get Organized

Getting organized for 2014

When it comes to New Year’s resolutions, three things come to mind:

(1) Lose weight;

(2) Stop smoking, and

(3) Get organized.

Let’s focus on the third option. Are you ready to get organized for 2014? It’s time. Remember, organization doesn’t get completed in one fell swoop.  Think of it as a muscle that needs to be practiced and strengthened all year around.  When it comes to organization it’s not just our closet: there is also the kitchen, tax season, a garage filled with the unknown, kids going back to school, and then it’s winter holidays. My apologies in advance if I am making you nervous about those heavy tasks but let’s aim to find a simple solution that will bring you a new way of living.

Healthy Fruit Smoothie Recipes for the New Year

Healthy Fruit Smoothies

Why are fruit smoothies so irresistibly delicious? Because they are refreshing, filling, and healthy, depending on what you put in them (no vanilla ice cream allowed). Now don’t be fooled by the smoothies you get at a juice parlor: many are known for adding sugar to give an extra kick of yumminess. To indulge in a healthy fruit smoothie, make sure to ask if they are using real, fresh ingredients. However, to be on the safe side, you can quickly make them at home. Smoothies are extremely easy to make, once you have the right ingredients including your favourite fresh fruits such as blueberries, mangos, strawberries, raspberries, banana and the list goes on. For added benefits, kick it up a notch by adding greens like spinach, kale, avocado…oh my. I say the more antioxidants, the merrier. Here are some of the best fruit smoothies.

Clean Floors Mean Good Luck in the Chinese New Year!

January 31st marks the beginning of the Chinese New Year, and this one, 2014, is the Year of the Horse!

The Chinese believe that starting the new year off with a clean house is essential to having an overall good year. All of the cleaning must all be done before New Year's Day though, because sweeping on the first day of the year is very bad luck - you could sweep away an entire year's worth of good fortune!

It is paramount, therefore, to ensure that your house is spic-and-span by Chinese New Year's Eve. This way you'll enter the new year properly!

To assist you in this cleaning enterprise, I've compiled a short list of vacuums and other cleaning products/devices in the following blog article. Just click through to find out all about how to get the new year off to a lucky start!

Samsung once again a major anchor at CES 2014

by Blogger on ‎01-06-2014 10:49 PM - last edited on ‎01-07-2014 04:15 PM by Blog Editor in Chief

Whether you’re a first timer at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) or a veteran, it’s clear Samsung is a major player. This was evidenced even an hour before their official press conference held at Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas where the line of anxious conference attendees snaked around half of the second floor of the convention centre. Then, when inside, it was standing room only by the time my colleague Lawrence and I made it in there.

But it was worth the wait. A number of product announcements were made and here are some of items worth noting from today, spanning across a number of categories.
