Review: VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch - even more fun than you think.

As a parent, or should I say, as a hippie-at-heart parent, I’m not a fan of technology for small kids. There’s so much stimulation in our world – everything blinks, makes noise and doesn’t last more than three minutes.But...Unfortunately or fortunately, my daughter is growing up in these technology rich times and my role as a parent is to introduce her to technology and maybe show her how to deal with it all. As much as I would wish it, sheltering my child is not the answer. Technology can be addictive, but exposure to it is inevitable. Giving them the tools to manage technology at an early age will help prevent them going bonkers when not supervised so they don't end up playing PlayStation for 5 days straight (Note that any similarity to someone you know is entirely unintended). For this particular reason I got quite excited to give my daughter the VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch to play with and see what happens …

Child Car Seats Safety.jpg

Believe it or not, car seats do expire. And while you may be thinking it’s all a marketing tactic to pressure you into splurging more on your little one, rest assured it’s all with good reason. It all comes down to keeping your child safe. As a parent, or as someone who cares for children, it’s your duty to stay up-to-date with the latest information on child safety. One of Transport Canada’s biggest recommendations for keeping kids safe on the road is to pay close attention to the expiry date on your child’s car seat.

Back to the basics - Melissa & Doug toys review

The world of kids' toys nowadays is ever evolving: smart watches, tablets, robot dogs etc. It’s overwhelming. I wish for some simpler toys for my child, for toys that won’t blink or talk. That’s exactly why I got excited to review toys made by Melissa & Doug. I’m a big fan of their toys as they are mostly made out of wood, are great quality and are educational ... and definitely appeal to the part of me that wishes for the simpler times. Previously I was the one who decided what I purchased from Melissa & Doug. Today, I’m about to test three random toys, which I didn’t pick. Let’s see if Melissa & Doug toys still pass the test …

Review: ZOKU Duo Quick Pop Maker equals instant fun

by Blogger on ‎06-08-2014 11:03 PM - last edited on ‎06-09-2014 11:02 AM by Blog Editor in Chief

The summer is almost here and nothing goes with kids and summer better than popsicles. On a hot day even I won’t say no to a popsicle.  What I love about popsicles is that you and your kids can make them yourselves. When kids learn that they can make a dessert themselves with little or no help from you, their eyes grow so big as if they learned that Santa Clause is coming early this year. It’s a great bonding opportunity. Folks in New Jersey created the Zoku Duo Quick Pop Maker which freezes ice pops in as little as seven minutes right on your countertop without electricity. Do this sound exciting? It surely does to me, so without further ado, let’s see what this magical machine can conjure.

New baby on the way? These nursery essentials will ensure you're well prepared.

When expecting your first baby one might think that the nursery is very important as it’s the babies’ room, where the baby will spend most of its time. That’s not entirely incorrect, but really the nursery is important as that’s where you, along with the baby will spend a lot of time together. It’s not only supposed to be cozy for the baby, but also for you (mom or dad). There’s nothing worse than having to get up in the middle of the night to cuddle a little one because they are sick, and its pitch black and there’s nothing to sit on. A properly furnished nursery is of the utmost importance and below you can find what I consider to be the essentials for any well-equipped nursery.
