Dogs, just like people, need to be active to be healthy.  In the wild, canines run free, hunt, and play at will.  But domesticated dogs are a lot different from their wild canine cousins.  How much does your dog really get up to play or run?  You can find out using the FitBark Dog Activity Monitor. We went hands-on with it to check how well it works, and what you can learn.

 Gluten Free Diet

It’s nice to see more gluten-free options at restaurants and grocery stores, especially for people who have celiac disease. But people who aren’t celiac are also leading a gluten—or at least a wheat—free lifestyle to lose weight or avoid bloating. I attempted to follow a gluten-free diet to dig deeper into this trend. Read on to find out what I learned:

Boss Pedals Reviewed: BD-2w, OD-1X and TE-2

by Blogger on ‎03-25-2015 11:40 AM - last edited on ‎03-25-2015 03:41 PM by Blog Editor in Chief

The Japanese company Boss has created the most historically significant collection of compact (“stompbox”) guitar pedals and continues to build quality electronic products for modern musicians. Starting in 1977 with the iconic (and orange-colored) DS-1 distortion pedal, Boss has created and released over a hundred pedal models. See that “wall of pedals”? That picture was taken by yours truly at the NAMM 2014 conference.  Lots of them are still sold worldwide and can be heard on recordings by famous artists. I had the privilege of trying three of the most recent innovative guitar pedals by Boss in the course of the last few weeks. Two gain-based pedals, and an echo (or reverb) model. What a treat!

Review: Eurocom Electra 3 gaming laptop

by Blogger on ‎03-21-2015 11:51 AM - last edited on ‎03-23-2015 10:51 AM by Blog Editor in Chief

Lately I’ve been on a bit of a kick with gaming laptops. They’ve really been coming in to their own as of late. There are so many great options and people’s interest in having enough PC muscle to game, in a laptop form factor is definitely increasing. For most people something like an Ultrabook or Chromebook is basic enough to get work done day to day, but when you want to do multimedia creation, or enjoy the latest PC games without having to sacrifice on graphics or performance, a gaming PC is tough to beat. If you can get the power of a gaming PC with the mobility of a laptop you’ll have something that has been the dream of many gamers for years. These days it’s not that farfetched and you have a few options. The latest model I’ve looked at is the Electra 3 from Eurocom. I’ve been a big fan of Eurocom’s laptops in the past so I was curious if this latest model would continue their winning streak.

Guess what is inside the Dyson V6 Vacuum to win

by Blog Editor in Chief ‎03-20-2015 04:03 PM - edited ‎03-20-2015 04:14 PM

Not too long ago the inside workings of a vacuum were a total mystery. Machines often had opaque, hidden bags or canisters, so you had no idea what got picked up while cleaning. Not these days.  Now many machines allow you to see what is going on inside the vacuum. For example, the Dyson V6 vacuum has a clear plastic canister, so you can easily see everything that gets picked up. Future Shop has created a video showing many things that could be picked up by this great vacuum. Watch the video and if you can correctly guess 3 things shown in the Dyson canister, then you may win this new cordless vacuum.  Here are the details:

Review: DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ Drone with 1080p Camera

by Blogger ‎03-17-2015 04:13 PM - edited ‎03-22-2015 05:42 PM

Drones are a complicated topic for some people; they’re disruptive technology, where regulation hasn’t really caught up to them. When you think about it, having a radio-controlled airplane isn’t usually treated as that big a deal: I was flying those when I was a kid. Having one that does a vertical take-off and landing, has four props that make it more agile than anything else in the sky without a pulse, and is equipped with a camera strapped onto the bottom ... well there’s only one thing to call it: Awesome. This is the DJI Phantom 2 Vision+.

The Awakened Fate Ultimatum.jpg

Everyone is familiar with the classic scenario of having to make a tough decision with a metaphorical angel whispering in one ear and a devil in the other. For Shin Kamikaze however, the celestial beings perched over his shoulder are very real, and the choices he has to make bear some of the heaviest consequences imaginable. Part visual novel, part rogue-like dungeon crawler, The Awakened Fate Ultimatum will lead you down a difficult path that will test your integrity and question your morality. What will you do when faced with the "ultimate choice"?

I’ve owned a Pioneer receiver for years, but it’s only now that I’ve been considering a move to a new model? Why? One hyphenated word: multi-zone.
