Happy Earth Day!

Upgrading to Energy Star® appliances can go a long way to saving on your energy bill at home. Your new washer will use as much as 50 per cent less energy than standard machines. But adopting a few new laundry trips and tricks will help you do even more to protect your family’s health, and the planet’s.

Cooking green

by TheQueenOfGreen on ‎04-18-2011 12:24 PM

green1.jpgWhen it comes to energy use in your kitchen, refrain from pigging out. Typically the large appliances – refrigerator, range and dishwasher – hog the spotlight when it comes to conserving energy in the kitchen. But why stop there.

What does it mean to cook green?

queen-green-blog.jpgThis week we're lucky enough to be welcoming Lindsay Coulter, aka TheQueenOfGreen, to the Tech Blog from the David Suzuki Foundation to share some tips on energy saving and green living.  Earth Day is upon us (Friday, April 22), so what better time than now to focus on small changes that make a big difference not only in terms of your energy bill, but also on the environment?

Belkin energy-saving devices prove useful to cutting your energy bill

Conserve Insight.jpgWhen I first saw Belkin’s Conserve line of products, I was impressed with how easy and useful they could be. Just looking around my place, gadgets are everywhere, and my office is just a disaster zone of wires and cables. If all of this is reflected in my hydro bill, then how can I get a better sense of what’s taking up so much juice?

Why do I use a clothesline? You may think it's because I’m a humourless electro-pauper, scratching my constant itch to sacrifice my time and energy on behalf of the environment. But there's more benefits than you realize. Read more...

Why Future Shop is keen to go green

by tempey on ‎04-09-2010 10:33 AM - last edited on ‎05-25-2010 04:26 PM by Administrator

Future Shop is a destination for Canadians and the products we sell are an ever increasing part of our daily lives – just think about three screens that are key to our business and to your life: cell phones, computers, and televisions. Now think about this technology 10 years ago and the technology today. The current generation of these electronics has made the originals obsolete. by Blogger ‎01-31-2010 04:29 PM - edited ‎10-27-2010 03:31 PM

With the Super Bowl coming up next weekend, now is the annual time that plush new flat panel tv's are discounted and on sale. The week of the big game is almost as popular as boxing day to see big boxes of cardboard crushed at the curb for the recycling truck to take away. Police will tell you thieves like tor prowl the boxes to see who has something worth nicking. That may be one reason to keep the box in the basement, but the inevitable move is another.
