So you’ve got all your music loaded up on your smartphone but the built in speakers don’t always cut it when you want a louder, richer sound. The SoundDock XT speaker from Bose is right up your alley. This dock will help you enjoy all the music you have with you on your phone by simply docking your iPhone in to the cradle. Of course we’ve seen sound docks before but this one is from Bose who have a lot of experience delivering big sound in a small package. The result is as unique dock that is very compact but with powerful, full-bodied sound. Bose’s proprietary acoustic design delivers a full audio experience that might surprise you from such a small package. On top of that, it has a very distinct and youthful look to it. It definitely has some personality to help it stand out from the pack.

Review: Denon HEOS multi-room speakers

by Blogger on ‎08-10-2014 12:46 PM - last edited on ‎08-12-2014 12:55 PM by Blog Editor in Chief

Having the Denon HEOS system set up in my home for the past couple of weeks has been quite a treat. It seems like multi-room audio is the real ‘it’ factor these days with so many gadgets coming out to try to deliver this desirable feature in a compelling way. After spending some time getting to know Denon’s HEOS line I found myself very pleased indeed. Denon is no stranger to home audio needs and this new HEOS line certainly shows it. I played with the HEOS 3, HEOS5, and HEOS 7 speaker models. I had the 7 set up in my living room where I usually listen to music the most. The 3 I setup in my bedroom where I don’t always listen to music but wanted the convenience of extending my multi-room setup there. The 5 I had set up primarily in my kitchen where the full-bodied sound came in handy, but since this unit has a handy handle on it, I found myself moving it around more often when I wanted to try it out in a new room.

Review: Monster DNA Pro over-ear headphones

by Blogger on ‎07-15-2014 04:25 PM - last edited on ‎07-16-2014 09:19 AM by Blog Editor in Chief

For the last few weeks my commutes have been noticeably better. No I didn’t find a new route to work to avoid the traffic. I’ve been taking these Monster DNA Pro over-ear sound isolating headphones for a spin. I was somewhat skeptical about these when I initially got my hands on them. I wasn’t sure how well they’d really perform versus my existing headphones. Did I really need a premium set of headphones? Would it really make that big of a difference to justify the initial sticker shock? I just wasn’t sold on the idea yet. I’ve got to admit now, that after just a couple of days of using these headphones I’m now a convert. They’ve kind of spoiled me and now I see premium grade headphones as a must-have in my daily carry. I left home without them once, and found myself regretting it all day long.

Review: Monster Octagon Premium Headphones

by Blogger on ‎06-05-2014 10:11 PM - last edited on ‎01-09-2015 09:45 AM by Blog Editor in Chief

The first thing that I thought when I saw “Octagon is for champions” was “…so, am I allowed to use them?”. Monster’s Octagon headphones come in a large, chunky box that feels important, emblazoned with the UFC logo. That’s when it clicked - the whole champions thing is an endorsement deal.

I didn’t know that UFC fighters were that discerning about their audio, but the way that Monster bills them, their Octagon headphones are built to deliver “knockout sound”. When you’re done groaning at the pun, we can talk about whether or not these headphones live up to the bill. Hit the link to find out.

Spring is on the horizon, and after this polar vortex winter, I’m sure a lot of you are starting to think about how nice it would be to be able to enjoy being outside again, without having to battle the elements. I know I am. With that in mind, I recently spent some time checking out the Rocketfish Indoor/Outdoor wireless speaker. Whether you’re playing hockey in your backyard rink, or planning your next BBQ party, this handy speaker has plenty of power to make itself be heard and is convenient enough that you won’t hesitate to take it out whenever the opportunity presents itself.

by Blogger on ‎12-30-2013 04:49 PM - last edited on ‎01-16-2014 12:32 PM by Blog Editor in Chief

With much travel, comes much needed peace and comfort from headphones. I was thrilled when I discovered headphones leader Bose had launched their first pair of in-ear noise-cancelling headphones, called the Bose QC20. They also co-released the QC20i headphones specific for iOS users.

Review: Klipsch GiG

by Blogger on ‎12-28-2013 10:35 AM

Klipsch GiG main.jpg

One of the biggest trends in speakers in the last year was not just Bluetooth, but Bluetooth in combination with smaller form factors. A number of manufacturers have gotten into this game and Klipsch is one of the latest with the GiG, a small speaker that is meant to pump out impressive sound in a portable frame. Its unique design treatments and attention to detail make it an interesting option for a smaller speaker, but how does its performance match up once the music starts playing?
