I’m a professional woman. I manage people, accounts, money - serious stuff. After work I’m a mom. I organize, prepare and manage little people. It is with confidence that I can say, I’m an adult. However, nothing shades this layer of seriousness and melts the adult in me as fast as LEGO does. Put a box of blocks in a front of me and my eyes open so wide that I can almost feel them sparkle, the experience is so intense. I love blocks. More specifically I love LEGO. Whether you’re one or one hundred there’s a set for you and I’ll be putting to the test the new Juniors line: Race Car Rally set and Spider Man: Spider-Car Pursuit.

Polar Loop and Bluetooth Heart Rate Sensor H7.jpg

Reaching fitness goals takes more than just trying to run one kilometre four times a week. It requires making the right choices that increase your physical activity level and improve your health. The Polar Loop is the latest in a series of activity trackers that can help you make the right choices while having fun along the way. Over the past couple weeks, I had the opportunity to test the Polar Loop Activity Tracker with the Polar H7 Heart Rate Sensor and here’s my take on them:

Parrot shows its Mini Drone and Jumping Sumo at CES 2014

by Blogger on ‎01-15-2014 03:19 PM - last edited on ‎01-30-2014 02:19 PM by Blog Editor in Chief

It’s hard not to see Parrot’s AR.Drone as a cool gizmo, a quadricopter flying around at the whim of a mobile device in your hands. The company has decided to give it a little brother, considerably smaller than the AR.Drone, and aptly called the MiniDrone. To go with that, the Jumping Sumo was also introduced, a wheeled robot that jumps up over two feet in the air on its own power.

CES 2014: Sphero gets a makeover

If you haven’t played around with Sphero, the robotic ball that you control with your iOS or Android device via Bluetooth, you might want to try it sometime. The fun and quirky ball will likely be getting a sibling of sorts with a new-look model, the Sphero 2B, that will move on wheels, allowing you to change them into a few different types, depending on where you use it. It won’t come to market until later this year, but it looks to be a fun gizmo that takes the best of Sphero and makes things faster and tougher.

Quad CopterGreen CopterBlue

One of the coolest and most versatile types of RC toys on the market today is most assuredly the four rotor helicopter (aka quadcopter), and this is especially true of the Alias High Performance Quad-Rotor Helicopter from LaTrax. That's because this copter can do a whole lot more than just fly. As its box boasts, the Alias is capable of "3D flips, rolls, and twists," and it is "fast and easy for anyone to fly!" So, just how well does the Alias live up to its box's boasting? This week I had the chance to put the Alias to the test and find out. Click through for full details on the Alias' flight-test performance results.

Review: LiteHawk RC Vehicles - Blast (Dune Buggy) vs. Brute (Monster Truck)

by Blogger on ‎11-11-2013 12:10 AM - last edited on ‎11-12-2013 03:49 PM by Blog Editor in Chief

If there's a category of toys available today that's more fun or exciting than radio controlled vehicles, I'd be extremely hard pressed to say what it is. Let's face it, RC vehicles are one of the coolest toy ideas ever, and there's probably not a kid on Earth that wouldn't love to have one. Unfortunately, RC products can also be complex, difficult to operate toys that are easily broken and practically impossible to fix; and, worst of all, they can be prohibitively expensive as well!

How awesome, then, for modern toy enthusiasts, that a Canadian company has introduced a brand of radio controlled toys that's breaking all the rules by offering high quality, easy to operate, and even easier to fix, RC products at great prices for all. The brand is called LiteHawk. Click through to learn all the details about 2 of the coolest LiteHawk offerings: the Blast (a race car/dune buggy) & the Brute (an awesome monster truck).

Furby Boom Application and Toy.jpg

With much anticipation, a new generation of the Furby has arrived! After hatching into the toy scene in 1998, this robotic critter instantly became one of the must-have toys of the year. Well known for its charming and playful personality, this furry hamster-owl-like critter has a mind of its own and interacts when you talk, pet, tickle, or feed it. Hasbro’s revival of Furby in 2012 boosted interactivity to a whole new level. It’s amazing to see how this classic childhood toy has evolved over the years to keep up with the digital age. Even more exciting is the recent unveiling of the Furby Boom, which has brought about tremendous change, especially in its free partner application.

Review: KidKraft Pirate Play Set

Ahoy!  I got me a KidKraft Pirate Play Set. Arrr!

As an auntie, I enjoyed playing Pirate with my three-year-old nephew. The product turns into a large- sized ship, so that a few kids can collectively play Pirate. Think of it as a giant dollhouse, but this time it’s a ship that will have a nice presence in your living room. Here’s my review on the KidKraft Pirate Play Set.
