by Blogger on ‎08-31-2014 11:41 PM - last edited on ‎09-02-2014 03:22 PM by Blog Editor in Chief

Innotabs.jpgIt’s exciting to watch your kid learn new things.  It’s just fascinating how little kids absorb information. Everyday I observe my daughter learning new things using the latest technology. Needless to say I got quite excited to test the Innotab 3 Plus and Innotab 3 S Plus, as they combine what I want for my daughter (developing her skills) with what my daughter wants from her toys (that she can pretend to be like mommy or daddy having a tablet like toy).

Review: Parrot MiniDrones Rolling Spider

by Blogger on ‎08-10-2014 07:53 PM - last edited on ‎08-11-2014 10:22 AM by Blog Editor in Chief

It may have been a foregone conclusion that Parrot would attempt to miniaturize its popular AR.Drone, and indeed it has — sort of — with the MiniDrones Rolling Spider. A quadrocopter like its larger cousin, the Rolling Spider can fly around, but also roll on the ground, up and down walls and along ceilings. Its limited range keeps it close to you at all times, but this is an indoor gizmo that is sure to be fun for everyone.

                      Blu Ray

A long time ago, in a city far, far away (Huh? Wasn't it just 2011... and in Toronto??) a new tradition was born, with the first organized celebration of Star Wars Day... That's right, it's nearly that time again—May the 4th, the world-wide unofficial Star Wars holiday! And in honour of George Lucas' great and enduring space opera, today I'll point out a few fun Star Wars items (available on the Future Shop website) to help you to celebrate the festivities! Of course, the date of May 4th was chosen for its phonetic similarity to the classic Star Wars phrase of well wishing, "may the force be with you," but today I'll send you off on a journey to the galaxy of Blog with a slightly different wish as you read this Star Wars themed article: May the fun be with you! Read on for an epic shopping adventure...

Review: LaTrax Teton 1/18 Scale RC Monster Truck powered by Traxxas

by Blogger on ‎04-30-2014 11:17 PM - last edited on ‎05-16-2014 12:11 PM by Blog Editor in Chief

RC cars can be a lot of fun, but when you look at the high-end cars they can be a bit intimidating. If you’re looking to get your feet wet you want something that you can pull out of the box, plug it in, and get driving with a minimum of hassle.

Meet the LaTrax Teton powered by Traxxas. Known for their big, mean RC machines, this 1/18 Scale 4WD Monster Truck is RTR - Ready-to-run right out of the box. Does it live up to the reputation of the brand? Read on, true believers.

Review: Traxxas E-Maxx Brushless Edition and E-Revo Brushless Edition RC Vehicles

by Blogger on ‎04-30-2014 08:13 PM - last edited on ‎05-16-2014 12:11 PM by Blog Editor in Chief

RC cars have changed and evolved, keeping pace with connected technology. Seeing the Traxxas E-REVO and E-Maxx brushless vehicles for the first time is an intimidating site; both of them were a damned sight bigger than I thought they’d be. Opening the boxes, I pulled out the first bits of styrofoam and laid them out carefully. This was going to be fun.

How to buy a tent: the basics

by Blogger on ‎04-29-2014 11:45 PM - last edited on ‎04-30-2014 10:07 AM by Blog Editor in Chief

Camping. Along with wild mosquito hunting and applying AfterBite it’s one of the great Canadian pastimes. There are plenty of ways to camp, but having a tent of your own? That’s the gateway to good times–without having to bug friends or family to borrow theirs.

So why does this matter? Because your next tent is coming from Future Shop, and you should know what you’re looking for!

Cool Camping Gear You Need to Get Now

by Blogger on ‎04-27-2014 12:28 PM - last edited on ‎04-30-2014 09:29 AM by Blog Editor in Chief

It’s that time of year when we who like to sleep in the open air under the stars start to air out the sleeping bags, brush the dust off the tent and get our gear packed up in anticipation of camping season.  Are you in the market for some cool new camping gear?  Me too; and I was blown away by the cool gear available from Future Shop.  Let’s go shopping.

I’m a professional woman. I manage people, accounts, money - serious stuff. After work I’m a mom. I organize, prepare and manage little people. It is with confidence that I can say, I’m an adult. However, nothing shades this layer of seriousness and melts the adult in me as fast as LEGO does. Put a box of blocks in a front of me and my eyes open so wide that I can almost feel them sparkle, the experience is so intense. I love blocks. More specifically I love LEGO. Whether you’re one or one hundred there’s a set for you and I’ll be putting to the test the new Juniors line: Race Car Rally set and Spider Man: Spider-Car Pursuit.

Parrot shows its Mini Drone and Jumping Sumo at CES 2014

by Blogger on ‎01-15-2014 03:19 PM - last edited on ‎01-30-2014 02:19 PM by Blog Editor in Chief

It’s hard not to see Parrot’s AR.Drone as a cool gizmo, a quadricopter flying around at the whim of a mobile device in your hands. The company has decided to give it a little brother, considerably smaller than the AR.Drone, and aptly called the MiniDrone. To go with that, the Jumping Sumo was also introduced, a wheeled robot that jumps up over two feet in the air on its own power.

CES 2014: Sphero gets a makeover

by Blogger on ‎01-14-2014 10:29 PM - last edited on ‎01-30-2014 02:20 PM by Blog Editor in Chief

If you haven’t played around with Sphero, the robotic ball that you control with your iOS or Android device via Bluetooth, you might want to try it sometime. The fun and quirky ball will likely be getting a sibling of sorts with a new-look model, the Sphero 2B, that will move on wheels, allowing you to change them into a few different types, depending on where you use it. It won’t come to market until later this year, but it looks to be a fun gizmo that takes the best of Sphero and makes things faster and tougher.
