I've been traveling a lot lately so being in Vancouver this past weekend was a good thing. I saw fellow Tech Blog writer and founder of Nextgenplayer.com, Paul Hunter, attended the first ever Fan Expo Vancouver and was a part of the Future Shop team to bring the third annual Canadian Videogame Awards (CVAs) to life. 

During yesterday night's Nintendo Direct conference, Nintendo revealed its new 2D Mario project for the Nintendo 3DS: New Super Mario Bros. 2!  Due to be released in both Japan and North America in August 2012, this new addition in the Mario series will be extremely fitting considering how successful its predecessor was on the Nintendo DS.  

This is it: today, is when the third annual Canadian Videogame Awards (CVAs) take place in Vancouver, BC. Future Shop is the title sponsor and is fortunate to be in close touch with the co-founder of the CVAs and producer/ host of Electric Playground, Victor Lucas.

The May 15th release of Diablo 3 draws ever nearer. Until now a lucky few have been able to check the game out first hand through the private beta test. Access was limited and extremely coveted for this hotly anticipated title. Do you want to try the beta out for yourself? Well don't abandon hope. You're in luck!

Earlier today, Bethesda announced that Prey 2 which was rumoured to be cancelled this March is, in fact, delayed until 2013.  A few weeks back a rumour began floating around that Zenimax had cancelled the first-person shooter, despite fairly high anticipation.  Luckily, that didn't happen but something serious certainly did. I'm not sure how many of you played or knew about the original game, but it was definitely something to appreciate and it showed in its universally solid scores.  A continuation of this series was inevitable and well deserving at that, so then what exactly happened in order for the sequel to be delayed on such short notice?

Halo 4, one of this year’s most hotly anticipated games and the return of Master Chief has just been officially announced as releasing on the 6th of November, 2012. Taking place four years after the events of Halo 3, we see Master Chief confronting another ancient evil threatening the universe. The franchise has sold over forty million games to day so Halo 4 is sure to be a popular title this holiday season. You’ll want to be sure to pre-order it and mark your calendars.

Earlier today, Nintendo confirmed a Super Mario Bros. game for their upcoming system, Wii U (Eurogamer).This probably won't come as a big surprise for many of you, but it's nice to know the news is now official, and will be fully announced at E3 this June.  

Just a few days ago, Bethesda announced that the popular motion control peripheral Kinect would be coming to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.  Available for free the week of April 23, Skyrim Kinect for Xbox 360 Support will feature more than 200 voice commands including Dragon Shouts, Hotkey Equipping, Follower Commands, and more. Now all of you can shout at your tv screens frantically and love every minute of it.  

Fans of the Diablo series have a little more than a month until the long-awaited Diablo III is released.  Blizzard Entertainment continues their in-depth look at the five heroes of Sanctuary with a sneak peek at their latest class, the Barbarian.

Late last week, Sega announced a new trailer for the much-anticipated Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2.  It doesn't seem like this news was covered on the Tech Blog so I'll just go ahead give you the awesome details! 

Since 2010, there have been some rumours going around about an upcoming installment in the Gears of War series, Gears of War: Exile.  After the release of Gears of War 3, the conclusion to the trilogy, you'd never think that Epic Games was set on creating yet another installment in the series, let alone an on-rails Kinect-compatible one.  That is, unless you caught wind of Epic's announcement early last year. Epic actually confirmed this rumour by quietly releasing a registered logo for the game (which you can find above).  However, this project became little more than a vision. Earlier today, Epic's Cliff Bleszinski confirmed that the rumoured title has been officially cancelled. 

In my best Kermit the Frog voice impersonation: "Hi-ho!," to the fact Canadians can get their Muppet-crazy hands on "Disney Collectible Packaging" exclusive in North America to Future Shop of The Muppets movie next Tuesday.

This morning, I had the wonderful opportunity of sharing with the viewers of CTV Morning Live Vancouver, the essential gadgets needed to survive March Break. It was a blast.

Nintendo announced earlier today that the Nintendo DS will have sold 4.5 million units in North America come the handheld's first birthday, March 27.  This is an impressive feat considering the 3D handheld began with a slow start, but thanks to last year's price cut and popular game releases like Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, those sales have boosted significantly.
