A kitchen isn’t much of a kitchen without a heat source. Continuing our look at how Samsung injects its gadget expertise into everyday appliances, let’s turn our attention to the humble stove.  They seem pretty straightforward, right? People don’t often take a look at what’s new with appliances so it is easy to just think that they’re all pretty much the same. With some of the more modern models you may be surprised to learn that they offer as much high technology and fancy features as any new gadget. Looks can be deceiving. The latest models from Samsung can be as different from your old stove as your new smartphone is from that old flip-phone you had in the 1990s.

The kitchen is one area of the house that seems to always change, yet somehow always stay the same. Stoves, refrigerators and microwaves have been staples in the kitchen for decades now but these things change and advance over the years. While most people don’t think of upgrading theirs too often unless something goes wrong, it can be easy to miss a lot of the technological advancements that the latest models offer. With Samsung’s prowess in high tech electronics, they’re the perfect example of what can be done when you apply the latest technologies and smart thinking to everyday appliances.

Samsung's Dishwasher and Laundry technology

Samsung is one of those giant tech companies that seems to excel at anything they touch. Their smartphones, TVs, and tablets make news all the time, for example. Their PCs are objects of envy by many. One thing I love about them is that they don’t just focus their efforts and knowhow on niche gadgets. They routinely inject what they learn making high tech toys into the sort of items you might expect to be otherwise referred to as ‘mundane’. Today we’ll look at some of their gadgets that are built specifically to help you in your day-to-day cleanup chores around the house. When an experienced technology company like Samsung make machines to wash your dishes or your clothes, you’ll be surprised at what a vital role tech can play to make routine chores something a little more special.

Samsung once again a major anchor at CES 2014

Whether you’re a first timer at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) or a veteran, it’s clear Samsung is a major player. This was evidenced even an hour before their official press conference held at Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas where the line of anxious conference attendees snaked around half of the second floor of the convention centre. Then, when inside, it was standing room only by the time my colleague Lawrence and I made it in there.

But it was worth the wait. A number of product announcements were made and here are some of items worth noting from today, spanning across a number of categories.

Samsung at CES 2013 - It's about integration

by Blogger ‎01-08-2013 02:34 PM - edited ‎01-08-2013 02:35 PM

It's about integration. That was the core of the discussion I had with Craig Mclennan last night. He's the VP for the consumer division  for Samsung Canada, and while he's only a year into this role he has big plans for the brand.

Meneghini fridge

Who needs a kitchen when you can get a do-it-all fridge for a whopping $41,500? The Italian designers, Meneghini, created a fridge that does everything a kitchen can do, except for washing dishes. What? No dishwasher? Then that’s no deal for me.

A Refrigerator that Needs a Smile to Open

It’s always important to appreciate the little things in life that make you happy. A group of scientist from the University of Tokyo believes that opening your refrigerator to grab something to eat or drink is a simple task that can make you smile without even thinking about it. Which is why they took it a step further by inventing the Happiness Counter device that is attached to your refrigerator to encourage smiling as well as maintaining a positive mind frame. Essentially, when you are heading to the refrigerator to grab a beer, if you are not smiling, the door will not open. The happiness counter will encourage you too smile (even if it’s a fake smile) before the door can be opened.

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend! To my fellow Canadians, it’s the time of year to over-indulge with turkey, stuffing, mash potatoes, and pumpkin pie. Fall is the best season, right? Are you looking to add more variation to Thanksgiving dinner? How about a Turkey wrapped with cheesecloth, or sweet potatoes with marshmallows, or pooovers, and pecan pie? Sounds mouth watery, right? If so, I’ve gathered lots of fun recipes to test out this weekend. Have a wonderful celebration.

How to Cook Corn in Your…Microwave!

by Blogger on ‎08-16-2012 05:16 PM - last edited on ‎12-12-2012 11:08 AM by Retired Administrator

On my drive back from Kelowna, I stopped in Chilliwack to pick up a bag of fresh corn.  I love eating corn on the cob in the summertime, especially during a BBQ.

The good thing about corn is that it makes a perfect snack at home or in the office. How can you make it so that it’s fast and easy. All you need is your microwave. And it won’t sabotage the taste. Trust.
