by Blogger on ‎10-16-2014 01:28 PM - last edited on ‎10-16-2014 02:10 PM by Blog Editor in Chief

With the shockingly amount of addictives, chemicals and fillers added to much of the food we eat today, I prefer making not only my own beverages at home, but meals too. I’ve always been a believer in the power of blenders, especially when I observe my local juice shops using those fancy, powerful, commercial-grade blenders. Well, now that powerful experience can be brought home thanks to the new Breville Boss super blender.

Persian New Year and Persian Cooking

Spring Equinox is just around the corner – March 20th at 9:57am PST -- to be exact. The first day of spring also marks the beginning of the Persian New Year celebration. In Farsi the New Year is called Norooz, which means “new day,” and this cultural celebration that lasts for twelve days of festivities.  Traditional Iranian meals are served during this season and you could imagine abundance of herbs and spices, especially saffron, in every meal. For this spring, let’s explore a new cultural dish; here are a few Persian-inspired cuisines to try at home.

In just a couple weeks from now, it’ll be time to say goodbye to the Year of the Snake and hello to the Year of the Horse! Chinese New Year is a celebratory time filled with festivities, good eats, and presents that bring good fortune, happiness, and prosperity.

There are over 1.5 million Chinese people living in Canada, but you certainly don’t have to be Chinese to participate! How? Well according to tradition, good luck comes from replacing old broken dishes and kitchenware, as well as sharpening dull knives. While I may not be able to sharpen your knives, I do have some great kitchenware recommendations that can help boost your luck for the New Year!

Blendtec is widely famous for its “Will It Blend?” YouTube series. If you are like me, you’re amazed and shocked at how they blend even the latest gadgets, like an iPhone 5s Gold. Yes, they turned it into Gold dust. I must say, it was hard to fathom destroying an iPhone 5s, yet impressed by its blending power. Every video proves that Blendtec is a high-powered blender that can blend pretty much anything, even Justin Beiber

I love appliances that have a small footprint, and I’m partial since my kitchen is small.  I was intrigued to review the Cuisinart Compact Blender. This small appliance takes the art of smoothie making to a whole new level.  You’ll likely be on a smoothie marathon every morning. Here’s my review on this kitchen gadget.

TASSIMO launched the T47 model, their lightest weight brewer, weighing in at only 2.5kg. I do appreciate when appliances are compact and light, especially when you live in an apartment with a small kitchen. In addition, I value a modern, lean design, especially if it has a permanent spot on my countertop.  The TASSIMO T47 works efficiently to deliver fresh brewed coffee when you want.

Your morning rush just got simpler.

Once I received the Paderno Wok, I immediately embodied the role of a master chef. Stir-fry is one of my favorite meals to prepare since I love to load up on vegetables and my other favorite ingredients. Plus, I can control the amount of flavoring to the dish.  In my cooking experience of stir-fry, I never used a wok and prepared the meal in a pot (please don’t judge me).
