Overview: Sharp 70" 240Hz 3D LED Smart TV

You’re watching your favourite western, and having trouble telling a mule from a stallion, when it hits you; it's not your eyesight that's making you squint at the screen: it's the blurry image from that CRT tube TV with the 40 watt bulb you purchased back in 1997. As John Wayne once said, “Tomorrow hopes we have learned something from yesterday.” So relinquish the past and upgrade to something with “true grit!”  There are some amazing new TV products available right now.  Read on, friend.  Read on.

Facebook Messenger voice.jpgIf you use the Facebook Messenger app on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, download the latest update and you’ll find a new feature that lets you call someone on your Friends list using VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), the same technology Skype uses. It’s a pilot project that Facebook has launched and surprisingly enough, Canadians will be the only ones who get to try it out for the next few weeks.

Janette Ewen is Canada's leading home décor and lifestyle expert and has expanded her savvy talents to the United States as she lives between Toronto and Santa Monica. This busy stylist is in the process of launching a new creative studio called Parker Barrow with her business partner Jef Hancock. Does the company’s name sound familiar? Well, it’s the last names of Bonnie Clyde. This partnership seems like it’ll cause some trouble…all in the name of style, fashion, and home décor. Expect a gangster entrance in January 2013 from this duo.

In this series, we find out what is on Janette Ewen's Kitchen Playlist.

Do you Zite? You Should

by Blogger on ‎05-29-2012 10:15 PM - last edited on ‎07-20-2012 02:28 PM by Administrator

We all like to keep up on the news. Of course what each of us defines as “news” or “interesting news” is really subjective and personal. Sure I love reading the Vancouver Sun (on my iPad, of course, with the app), but a lot of the “news” isn’t really interesting to me. Which is why after a quick skim of the headlines I head over to Zite for the news that I’m interested in.

Hey, it isn’t just me who thinks Zite is awesome, CNN must have too—because they bought Zite for an undisclosed millions of dollars. So how do you get into Zite? Let me tell you.

Bump Your Photos To Your Computer

by Blogger on ‎05-28-2012 08:20 PM

A lot of you might have heard of the iOS app Bump—Bump for iOS & Bump for Android—which made its name first for sharing contacts, then apps and photos. All of which are cool, but what about sending photos from your phone to your computer by tapping your phone on the spacebar of your computer?

Sounds like a magic trick? Actually not only does it sound like magic, but it seems like magic too—except it really works!

Pinterest Logo.jpegPinterest, the online visual pin board, is currently the social media darling and is responsible for inspiring many of you to explore your inner creativity. For this summer, get yourself a sewing machine to help you work on those DIY projects you’ve been tempted to try.

Photos are now bigger on Facebook... but it’s still not your library!

by Blogger on ‎03-23-2012 03:18 PM - last edited on ‎04-27-2012 09:12 AM by Retired Moderator

Facebook has announced that they'll be increasing the size of photos in your library, letting you go full-screen on some browsers and offering up to 4x more resolution. That's cool... but here's why you need a real library solution.

In their press release, Facebook has announced enhancements to their photo viewer, including high-resolution photos and fullscreen. The built-in image viewer will automatically display photos in the highest resolution possible, making some pictures up to 4 times bigger than before.

Social Media Disclaimers Don't Work

by Blogger on ‎02-20-2012 11:08 AM

You see Twitter disclaimers more and more these days. It's a variation on the "the views are mine and not my employer", or "opinions expressed here are mine and mine alone" theme.

Guess what?

Those opinions may be yours and they may not reflect the opinions of your employer, but they reflect you.

TV numbers aren't shrinking.  It counteracts conventional wisdom, that tv should have it's revenue grow in an era of time shifting, PVRs, piracy and streaming. But it's true.

The reason?  Social.  You may watch tv on the big screen, but it's the second screen that is driving the numbers - and the conversation.

iPhone Face Down - The Phone Stacking Game

phonestack.jpgA new study has shown that Twitter's pull is stronger than addiction to cigarettes or alcohol.

How long can you last with your phone face down?

The Phone Stacking Game forces you to pay attention to the people you're with.

Twitter or Facebook? If You Could Have Only One

by Blogger ‎02-03-2012 08:02 AM - edited ‎02-03-2012 08:03 AM

twitterbook.pngIf you could only live with one social network, which would you choose? Facebook? Twitter? Google+? LinkedIn? Pinterest?

Despite filing public offerings and having an estimated value of $100B, Facebook showed it is not the powerhouse it thinks it is this week.

Facebook's IPO: Buy or Sell?

by Blogger on ‎02-01-2012 08:39 PM - last edited on ‎03-06-2012 01:09 PM by Administrator

It's now official. Facebook is going public.

While the initial $5B offering will just be for the well-to-do on Wall Street, when the FB stock goes on the market this May, we'll all get a chance to buy in.

The question is: will you?

How To Silence Twitter's Noise

by Blogger ‎01-31-2012 07:20 PM - edited ‎01-31-2012 07:25 PM

noise.jpgTwitter is about to get noisy.  With the Super Bowl this weekend and The Oscars arriving in the next month, the conversation that normally weaves through a number of threads is about to get VERY onesided.

If youre not a red carpet afficionado or a football freak, there is a way to drown out the noise without blocking or unfollowing the noisy twitterers.

Here's how:

What's the big deal about Facebook's new Timeline feature? Well, there's really no big deal other than it's yet another design change for Facebook.

BUT .. if you've not been playing nicely on the social networks, the timeline feature makes it easier for people to go back and dig through your past.

Spend Christmas Off The Grid

santa_cell_phone.jpgCan you do it?

Can you go the weekend without going online?  It's Christmas, for crying out loud.  You're not *really* going to live tweet pictures of your kids opening presents are you?

Chances are you will click in .. yknow, just to have a peek at what's happening on the internet.
